Nova is happy that her mother, Debonair, finally allowed her to meet Hikaru. Nova says they have to fight because she loves Hikaru and goes on the offensive. Hikaru dodges Nova’s strikes and asks her which country she came from. Nova says she was born on Cephiro to kill Hikaru. Nova lands a blow and thinks Hikaru’s screams are cute. Hikaru launches a Flame Arrow but Nova blocks it and fires back her own. Nova says she can use all of Hikaru’s magic because she is Hikaru. Nova says her mother made her something good and summons her Rune-God, Regalia. Rayearth tells Hikaru to summon him so she does. They both board their Rune-Gods and the battle begins. Umi and Fuu arrive in time to help Hikaru much to Nova’s anger. She vows to kill them and brings them into another dimension. Nova insists that Hikaru is hers and attacks with a Flame Arrow. Hikaru blocks it and says she’ll never forgive Nova if she hurts her friends. This upsets Nova who again professes her love for Hikaru along with her desire to kill her. She shifts dimensions again and says they should let her kill them since they’re all going to die anyway. Fuu attacks but does no damage. Windam explains that since Nova created the dimension the Knights’ magic is halved. Hikaru and Nova cross swords, with Nova saying Cephiro will belong to Debonair once everyone loses to the fear in their hearts. Umi attacks but is knocked away. Hikaru moves to help but Nova demands she only look at her. Rayearth senses an evil power approaching and Debonair’s shadow appears.
Hikaru recognizes Debonair from her dreams and Debonair confirms it. She says looking into hearts is simple for her and claims the people of Cephiro wished for her existence. Debonair says her wish is complete destruction and tells Nova to destroy the Knights. Debonair says she’s right beside them and will wait for everything in Cephiro to die before vanishing. Nova again says she loves Hikaru but adds that she hates everything Hikaru loves. Regalia takes down Rayearth and the others’ attacks do nothing. Fuu asks where Debonair is but Nova repeats that she’s right beside them. Nova knocks down Umi and Fuu with a large blast and Hikaru challenges her again. Nova catches Hikaru’s sword and breaks it, then heavily damages Rayearth with a blast. Hikaru is knocked out and Rayearth disappears. Nova is disappointed and tells Hikaru to play with her again after getting stronger before leaving. Clef wonders what the evil presence covering Cephiro is, while on the NSX Lantis feels it coming from Cephiro itself. Lantis tells Eagle that he doesn’t think it’s right that Cephiro needs a Pillar and that’s why he returned. He adds that he doesn’t want to fight Eagle before Geo and the others break into the room. Lantis summons his horse and Eagle lets him leave. Eagle admits to Geo that Lantis almost had him changing his mind since he doesn’t actually like invading other countries. Umi and Fuu help Hikaru through the castle and Hikaru drops to her knees when she realizes her sword broke.
What’s worse than a yandere? A yandere with a giant robot! Nova is totally nuts but she manages to wreck the Knights quite decisively. The mecha look great in this episode and we have Masami Obari to thank for that since he handled the key animation. Hikaru’s sword gets broken so she won’t be able to summon Rayearth anymore. Hikaru has always carried the Knights by herself so it’ll be interesting to see how Umi and Fuu handle things without her help. In other developments we see that Eagle’s resolve isn’t as unwavering as we thought. Luckily for him he’s got good comrades by his side.
