The RB-79[M] Ball Marine Type was a variant of the Earth Federation Forces’ space use RB-79 Ball mobile pod. The RB-79[M] was extensively modified for underwater use, leaving only the core Ball unit surrounded by a new propulsion system and manipulator arms. The Ball also featured a communication cable connected to the top of the unit. The cannon mounted on top of the Ball was replaced with missile pods. In August UC 0080, several RB-79[M] units patrolling near Antarctica came under attack from Zeon remnants and were all destroyed. The EFF also produced another underwater variant, the RB-79N Fisheye.
