The RB-79N Fisheye was an underwater use variant of the Earth Federation Forces’ RB-79 Ball mobile pod. As a space-use unit, the Ball was selected by the EFF for underwater conversion due to its airtightness. The Fisheye was extensively modified for underwater operation and replaced its space-use thrusters with a large propeller and four stabilizers. The Fisheye featured a large searchlight underneath its cockpit and mounted enlarged manipulators (compared to the standard Ball) that could be used for melee combat. For its main armament, the 180mm cannon mounted on the top of the unit was replaced with a twin long spear. Due to its short cruising range, the Fisheye was deployed from vessels like submarines or aircraft carriers. The EFF continued to use the Fisheye after the One Year War, with some units deployed in combat as late as UC 0083.
