Developed by Anaheim Electronics, the RGM-119 Jamesgun was commissioned by the Earth Federation Forces as the successor to its aging general purpose RGM-109 Heavygun. Anaheim revamped the Jamesgun’s design during development in response to SNRI’s Formula series. The plan was to develop two mobile suits: a ground/space colony unit (the Jamesgun) and a space unit (the RGM-122 Javelin). Despite its smaller size, the Jamesgun used some of the same design elements as the older RGM-89 Jegan. The Jamesgun’s armaments included standard vulcan guns, a pair of beam sabers, a beam shield and a beam rifle. The Jamesgun was rolled out in UC 0119, but due to production delays only seven Early Type units participated in the fight against the Crossbone Vanguard in UC 0123. The Jamesgun saw wide deployment across Earth and space for the next three decades. This included a ground combat variant, the RGM-119D Desert Type Jamesgun. However, this aging suit proved to be a poor match against the modern (and far superior) mobile suits employed by the Zanscare Empire during their Earth invasion in UC 0153.
