The RGM-79HC GM Guard Custom was a mobile suit based on the RGM-79SC GM Sniper Custom. Whereas the Sniper Custom was focused on offense, the Guard Custom took the oppose focus of defense through the use of a large guardian shield that featured five layers of composite armor made from an alloy using four different materials. The Guard Custom’s armaments included head and shoulder vulcan guns, beam sabers, beam spray guns, a beam dagger and additional vulcan guns mounted in the guardian shield. The Guard Custom’s head was equipped with a visor and composite sensor. Although the Guard Custom featured a redesigned backpack, the shield’s size made the unit difficult to handle. Thus, it was typically assigned to highly skilled pilots and served on escort and protection duty. Guard Customs were often deployed alongside the RGM-79KC Intercept Custom.
