The RGM-88X Jeda was a prototype general purpose mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics for the Earth Federation Forces. It was intended to succeed the EFF’s long-running RGM series by combining the EFF’s expertise in the RGM line with Anaheim’s development technologies. The Jeda’s armaments included a vulcan god pod, two beam sabers, six hand grenades, a beam rifle and a shield. One Jeda unit was customized for Londo Bell ace pilot Amuro Ray after the loss of his MSK-008R Modified Rick Dijeh. This custom unit added a head blade antenna and extra armor to the chest and rear skirt, but it was not adjusted to take advantage of Amuro’s powerful Newtype abilities. Eventually, the Jeda’s design evolved into the improved production model RGM-89 Jegan, which began its deployment in the early UC 0090s prior to the start of the Second Neo Zeon War. Although it was intended for the Jegan to replace the Jeda after its deployment, some suits remained in service with EFF units like Londo Bell.
