The RGM-89ST1 ST-Gun was a custom reconnaissance mobile suit built by SNRI. Initially, the plan was to replace an RGZ-95 ReZEL Defenser unit with a reconnaissance device, but due to the resulting changes in maneuverability in transformation, it was decided instead to use the basic frame of the RGM-89J Jegan Type J. The unit’s shoulders were swapped out for those from the RGM-89D Jegan Type D, which were fitted with large long-range optical sensors. Additionally, the right shoulder was equipped with a turret and full-circle control unit integrated with the main sensor, while the left shoulder featured a turret with laser sensor. The head was outfitted with spectral and thermal analysis sensors. A detachable sub-optical sensor that also served as an apogee motor was mounted on the waist. The ST-Gun’s cockpit was also extensively modified by adding acoustic and infrared sensors, as well as a Minovsky interference wave measuring device. The reactor from an RGM-89R Jegan Type R was used to power all these sensors. The ST-Gun’s backpack was later replaced with a composite thruster vane system that increased its total thrust. The suit had no dedicated armaments, but it could carry a standard beam rifle as well as the RGM-89DEW EWAC Jegan’s camera gun. In UC 0116, Lee Shaomei piloted an ST-Gun to follow and collect data on the F90 Gundam F90 during evaluation tests. Later, SNRI produced the RGM-89ST2 ST-Gun.
