The RX-098 Prototype Rick Dias was the predecessor to the AEUG’s mass production RMS-099 Rick Dias. It was an experimental model created for testing with Gundarium Gamma, which was brought from Axis by Char Aznable. Other experimental elements included the movable frame and a new style generator. The development team gave it the nickname Proto Gamma, and in order to fool the Earth Federation Forces, the unit was assigned the model number RX-098. The outward appearance of the Prototype Rick Dias was quite similar to that of the production model Rick Dias.
