The RX-77-1A Guncannon A was an early version of the Earth Federation Forces’ RX-77-2 Guncannon mobile suit from the Operation V development project. The Guncannon A was designed as a mid-range fire support unit. It was armed with a pair of back-mounted cannons, a vulcan gun, missile pod and beam rifle. The Guncannon A was built with thicker armor than the standard version. The increase in weight from the armor resulted in a drop in mobility. Because the EFF engineers required both thick armor and good mobility, the proposal was sent back to the drawing board.
