During the One Year War, the Earth Federation Forces created the experimental RX-81 G-Line with the goal of truly mass producing the RX-78-2 Gundam and matching its performance, compared to the pared down RGM-79 GM. Because the RX-81 was produced after the war, there were no large scale conflicts and the cost of the using Luna Titanium for the next generation of mobile suit proved to be too costly for mass production. The base G-Line’s armaments included the standard vulcan guns, beam sabers, beam rifle and shield. Compared to the Gundam, the G-Line could alter its equipment depending on the mission, and thus multiple variants were created. In UC 0081, the G-Line was used by the Phantom Sweep unit to hunt down Zeon remnants. In UC 0083, six RX-81FC units were assigned to the assault carrier Albion, ostensibly to aid in the search for Zeon’s Delaz Fleet.
