It’s time for another clip show. This time, Durandal wonders how Kira and Lacus met, which means we’re treated to yet MORE clips from SEED. Aside from that, there’s some new footage explaining a bit more about Durandal and Rau’s past, showing their discussions about philosophy and other things. Some footage shows more of Rey’s connection to Rau, but the details are still shrouded in mystery. It’s also established that Durandal and Talia did indeed have a prior relationship, but she dumped him because she wanted to have children.
To sound like a broken record, this episode is another interesting opportunity wasted by yet more useless SEED flashbacks. Would it have been nice to know more about Durandal and Talia’s relationship? Yes. Would it have been interesting to know more about Durandal’s connection to Rau and Rey? Yes. Is Chinese water torture better than seeing the same old SEED footage for the 100th time? You bet. Unfortunately, none of these concepts can be developed when they’re bogged down in clip shows.
