At the conclusion of the Colony Nation Wars, weapons research was heavily restricted as part of the Silver Chalice Treaty. However, all the knowledge of mobile suit development and combat tactics were sealed away in a database known as the EXA-DB. The unmanned mobile armor Sid was developed to protect the EXA-DB from anyone attempting to access its secrets. Despite its age, Sid used more advanced technology than the Earth Federation or Vagans and was capable of self-repair and self-evolution. Sid was equipped with the invisible umbrella camouflage system that would later be used by the Vagans. Its wings were equipped with multiple beam cannons and missile launchers. In AG 151, the Earth Federation Forces and Bisidian space pirates had a disastrous encounter with Sid. As a result of the battle, Asemu Asuno’s AGE-2 Gundam AGE-2 Normal was heavily damaged. In AG 164, Vagan leader Zeheart Galette encountered Sid in an asteroid field while conducting a performance test on the xvm-fzc Gundam Legilis. Although Sid was damaged and the EXA-DB was destroyed, Sid recovered thanks to its self-repair function. Near the war’s end, Sid reappeared and forcefully merged with the xvg-xxx Vagan Gear to form the hybrid Vagan Gear Sid. Although Sid was destroyed, another unit appeared years after the war and was defeated by Kio Asuno’s AGE-FX Gundam Age-FX (A-Funnel Equipment Type).
