Near Langley Base, Rest Djemilas engage Neo DC Forces. Van’s Rhinoceros takes a hit, but he refuses to fall back so he can show the Federation that the Neo DC will protect the Earth. Yuuki’s squad of Razangriffs and Randgriffs arrive and provide support. Mekibos watches the battle and figures it’s time for him to launch. Yuuki takes out a bunch of Rest Djemilas and more arrive only to be shot down by the Hagane and Hiryu Kai’s forces. Van acknowledges Daitetsu and contacts Lune, noting that for Bian’s daughter to be working with the Federation must be karma. Ratsel says that they carry on the legacy of Bian and Maier as well, but in a different way. Lune says they must fight off the alien threat her father spoke of, and the joint attack begins. Bullet helps out Yuuki and Carla, and they finally formally introduce themselves before charging forward together. The Hagane and Hiryu Kai’s forces break through the Rest Djemila units but Daitetsu warns that the Inspectors may abandon the base. Mekibos activates his Graterkin and the Ganland warps in above the base. The Ganland fires and severely damages the Hagane. Lefina has the Hiryu Kai move to guard the Hagane when Mekibos appears. Ryoto recognizes him from the Moon while Mekibos readies his Thunder Crush attack, noting it takes too long to charge. Irm and Tasuku move to stop him but Mekibos fires.
Tasuku defends the battleships, but Van’s Rhinoceros takes a direct hit. The other units survive the attack and Irm goes after Mekibos. The Shadow Mirror units launch and Axel heads right to Kyosuke. Ryusei is surprised the Shadow Mirror are working with the Inspectors now, and a wounded Van curses Vindel. Vindel says he’ll work with his enemies to achieve his ideals just like Van. Excellen flies up to Lemon, who says she doesn’t want to fight. Lemon asks Excellen to go with her, but she refuses. Axel battles Kyosuke, saying that they’ll deal with the Inspectors after he gets rid of Kyosuke. Lamia tries to help, but Echidna intercepts her piloting the Angelg Noir. On the Hagane, operator Eita Nadaka receives medical treatment while Daitetsu insists that he’s fine. Tetsuya reports that the Tronium Buster Cannon can still fire one shot, and Daitetsu orders all units to retreat. He tells Tetsuya to think of how they can turn the situation around and assures the rest of the crew that they’ll open the path to victory. Unseen by the others, Daitetsu’s blood drips to the floor. Mekibos evades Irm and Tasuku’s attacks when the order to withdraw goes out. Gilliam intends to draw the enemy away to make the retreat easier and the Ganland detects the Buster Cannon charging. Kyosuke notes how Axel knows how to fight the Alteisen, and he fires at Axel’s Sword Breakers with his autocannon. Axel says it was a mistake, and the Sword Breakers slice off the Alteisen’s arm and leg. Kyosuke attacks with his stake, but Axel catches it with his halberd shooter and slices off the Alteisen’s other arm. Axel goes to finish Kyosuke off, noting that he isn’t mutating like Beowulf did. At the last minute, Kyosuke attacks with his heat horn, but Axel dodges it before kneeing the Alteisen in the cockpit. Excellen goes to help Kyosuke, but the Einst arrive in massive numbers and begin attacking. Axel retreats, noting that the Einst are protecting Kyosuke. The Einst try to take Kyosuke away, but Excellen, Bullet and Kusuha free him. Bullet and Kusuha escape with the Alteisen, but the Weissritter is swarmed by the Einst. Irm and Mekibos fight off the Einst together, and Irm asks if Mekibos would just give up on the planet. Mekibos says he won’t go back empty handed and aims at the Hagane and Hiryu Kai. Van charges at him with his Rhinoceros, and tells the others to escape. The Rhinoceros drives into the Einst before exploding. Mekibos prepares to fire on the Hagane again, and the Hagane releases its gravity breaks before firing its Buster Cannon.
This episode starts off positively enough with our heroes joining hands with the DC to take on the Inspectors. Bullet and Yuuki get along pretty well now that they’re fighting for the same cause and Van has always been a man of good character. Then things go to Hell once the Shadow Mirrors show up. The Hagane takes a direct hit, which some how results in Daitetsu getting injured. That makes little sense considering the bridge looks to be in perfect condition after the attack so how could he have gotten hurt? Well, I’ll give the staff the benefit of the doubt and assume the background will be modified to look damaged for the DVD/Blu-ray version. Other unfortunate events include that horrid Angelg returning as Echidna’s new ride, and Kyosuke getting thrashed by Axel. Kyosuke had mentioned that the Alteisen wasn’t good enough anymore and it catches up to him here. It was interesting to see Axel do this while using his Ashsaber rather than the Soulgain like in the games. Kyosuke’s defeat prompts the Einst to swarm the battlefield and he gets saved, but Excellen isn’t so lucky. While she has a date with some tentacles, Van goes out similarly to Bian and Maier. He was yet another good man who just needed to pick his subordinates better. The episode ends on a cliffhanger so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
