The Hiryu Kai’s forces head towards Winnipeg, breaking through massive amounts of Einst. Carla says she feels a chill just like in China and Kusuha thinks something is watching them. Ryusei and Rai protect civilians as they flee when they see a black fog spreading through the city. All the Psychodrivers sense something and they see that the fog is mutating people into Einst. Einst forces attack the Hiryu Kai, prompting Kyosuke to leave the sick bay. Tasuku tries to fire on the Einst but a new enemy stops him. It moves extremely fast and attacks Lamia. She recognizes it as the Weissritter, which is now the Rein Weissritter. It aims at the Hiryu Kai’s bridge, but stops when Kyosuke walks out onto the deck. Kyosuke calls out to Excellen, but she says she’ll destroy the people of the land of beginnings. Alfimi appears and says Excellen is returning to a pure being without changing form. She goes on to say that she’ll test to see if they’re enough to open the gate to the lost records of the past. Alfimi sends her familiars into the city, and large rocks appear from the sky. They fall into the city and form a circle that gathers the fog in a giant whirlwind. Aya senses an evil psychic energy gathering and Bullet says their psychic energy can stop it. The Grungust Type 3 puts up its TK field, but tentacles shoot out of the twister and pull them in. The whirlwind disappears and in its place is the giant Einst Regisseur. It wonders if the key is sufficient and if it can be a new life.
Alfimi says if all goes well the path will open, but Kyosuke says he won’t let her have her way with Excellen. Arado attacks Alfimi and pushes her away while Lamia goes after Excellen. Leona and Ibis try to attack the Regisseur, but it uses the Grungust as a shield. It razes the area and again wonders if it is sufficient for the key before engulfing itself in darkness. It tells Bullet and Kusuha to show it the power to make a key for the gate and starts pulling the Grungust apart. Bullet tries to separate to save Kusuha, but she says she’ll stay with him until the end. They try to use the drills to pull away and their determination calls down the Chokijin. The Chokijin speak to them and ask if they want to protect humanity from evil. They say their revival requires two people with strong psychic will and Bullet and Kusuha say they’ll fight with them. The darkness is dispelled and the Chokijin start eating the Grungust Type 3 before surrounding it in an orb of light. The Regisseur identifies them as the servants of the guardian of the land of beginnings before attacking. The light disperses, revealing Ryukooh which is piloted by Kusuha. She calls down lightening to destroy the tentacles and the Einst says it will end their ancient struggle before attacking again. Ryukooh changes into Koryuoh, piloted by Bullet, and attacks with its random spike weapon. Bullet then uses the variable drill to plough through the Regisseur before changing into Ryukooh again. Ryukooh draws its sword and cuts the giant Einst in two, destroying it. Alfimi sees this and notes that it wasn’t only the Einst that were testing them. She admits defeat and retreats with Excellen, saying that Excellen will become a pure being and Alfimi will become a complete one. Kyosuke vows to risk his life to save Excellen. Later in the sick bay, Gilliam asks Kyosuke if Excellen had encountered the Einst in the past but Kyosuke doesn’t answer. Gilliam thinks to himself that he’ll have to investigate their pasts. Arado apologizes for not being strong enough, but Kyosuke says they’ll get Excellen back next time, also complimenting Arado on his attack. Marion enters, saying she’ll give the Wildwurger more power and give the Alteisen the chance to fight again. Kusuha notes that she saw Ryukooh’s memories, and Bullet says he saw them too. The Chokijin had been fighting evil for ages and Bullet assures Kusuha they’ll defeat evil and save Excellen.
Our heroes head off to rescue some poor Canadians in another big battle episode. The Einst take the center stage again and we see that numbers aren’t they only thing they have up their sleeves. They can mutate humans into Einst, but fortunately Excellen is spared that treatment. She’s still under mind control, though, and with the newly upgraded Rein Weissritter she makes a formidable foe. As is typical for such a plotline we can tell that the Excellen we all know and love is in there somewhere. A giant Einst appears and says a lot of stuff about keys and gates but that doesn’t mean much to us right now. Kusuha and Bullet are put in a tough spot but they’re bailed out by the Chokijin, who then eat the Grungust and become Ryukooh/Koryuoh. This was originally supposed to happen on the very first mission they use the Grungust Type 3 in, but it was saved for later here. That’s fine by me, because having an ancient magical Chinese super robot would probably have made things too easy. Excellen, Kusuha, and Bullet now have their upgrades and with Marion on the scene, it’s time for Arado and Kyosuke to get theirs.
