Summary

The Angelg descends from the sky and Kyosuke asks for identification. Lee tells him it’s an ally and orders him to destroy the rest of the enemies. Archibald thinks it’s time to go and Echidna Iisakki appears in her R-Eins, telling him to activate his ASRS and leave. He does so and Lee is shocked that they can’t detect the enemy anymore. The Thrudgelmir retreats and Kyosuke wonders what it and the Angelg are. After returning to the Shirogane, Excellen admires the Angelg’s design and wonders what kind of woman is piloting it. Bullet points out that they don’t know if the pilot is a woman, and Excellen thinks it would be funny if the pilot was an old man. Lamia exits the Angelg and Kyosuke takes her to the bridge. Lee argues with some one from Isurugi Heavy Industries who tells him the Angelg is part of trials for the next main unit and was kept a secret. Lee mocks Isurugi for working for the DC during the war, but the representative just says it was an official request made through Kenneth. Lee says he takes no responsibility for the safety of the Angelg or its secrets and Lamia notes to herself that preparations were successful. She adds that she never thought she’d get close to Kyosuke so easily. Lee hangs up and tells Lamia her actions will be restricted and she has to keep things confidential. Her response comes out funny and Lee thinks she’s mocking him. He tells Kyosuke that the ATX team will handle her. Archibald talks to a mysterious woman who reminds him of an upcoming operation. He tells her not to worry and adds that he has personal dealings with it as well. Lamia introduces herself to the ATX team but her attempts at polite speech come out strange. She explains she’s from Isurugi Heavy Industries in Japan and Excellen figures that’s how they talk in Japan. The others introduce themselves and Lamia is surprised to hear the name Browning. She asks if Excellen has any family and Excellen says it’s just her and her father. Lamia wonders if it’s just a coincidence but can’t help but note her similarity to someone else. At Cheu Hill in China, Dr Eri Anzai watches as personnel from Isurugi excavate the hill. Eri supposes Isurugi will take over soon and fire her Lost Technology Research Institute. Archibald’s Stork arrives and attacks the dig site. Yuuki demands to know why Archibald is attacking, and Archibald explains that under the hill are the Chokijin, ancient Chinese mechanical giants. He adds that they aren’t a myth and that records of their appearances exist, including the Grims clan’s records. He says getting a Chokijin would allow the DC to fight against aliens. Carla is concerned about the civilian workers and Yuuki suggests issuing a warning so they can conserve ammo for their pursuers. Archibald doesn’t listen, stating that he just loves unnecessary civilian bloodshed. Archibald asks Carla if it brings back her memories but Yuuki stops her before she can react, saying they’ll excavate the Chokijin quickly. The Shirogane arrives and the ATX team launches. As they get closer, both Bullet and Excellen sense something strange.

Carla feels strange as well and wonders if it’s the Chokijin, but Yuuki says he doesn’t believe in that sort of thing. Bullet broadcasts over an open channel and demands the DC forces stop attacking civilians. He says that humanity shouldn’t be fighting each other in light of the alien threat, but Yuuki replies and says that the Federation can’t protect the Earth Sphere before the two of them clash. The ground shakes and the sky goes dark and Lamia identifies it as a spatial jump phenomenon. Many Einst creatures appear and surround Cheu Hill. They say that they can’t allow the Chokijin to awaken, but only Excellen and Kyosuke hear their voices. The Einst destroy the hill and the shockwave disables the surrounding mechs. The destruction of the hill reveals the Chokijin Koouki and Ryuouki. The Einst prepare to attack and Excellen has a reaction that causes her eyes to go blank and change colors. Despite their numbers, the Einst are easily wiped out by the Chokijin. Archibald is ecstatic that the Chokijin are real and orders their capture, but the Stork is hit by one of Ryuouki’s lightning bolts and its systems short out. Lamia is surprised such things exist on that side and Yuuki gets the order to retreat. Koouki stares down Carla until Yuuki pulls her Guarlion away. It then smirks at Bullet before it and Ryuouki fly off.

Commentary

Lots going on in this episode. First off Lamia joins the ATX team. I have to say that Angelg’s redesign looks awful. Those gag boobs it’s sporting are completely ridiculous! Well, I was never much of a fan of the Angelg anyway. I’m a huge fan of Lamia though, and thankfully her breasts didn’t get the same treatment. If anything she actually got a reduction! But enough about boobs. Isurugi Heavy Industries appears a lot in this episode. They get Lamia onto the Shirogane, their name is on the screen Archibald talks to, and they were digging up the Chokijin. Clearly they’re up to something. Archibald makes his own villainy apparent as he flat out tells Yuuki and Carla how much he loves killing people, especially civilians. Swell guy, that one. The Chokijin make their appearance extremely ahead of schedule along with the Einst, which causes something weird to happen to Excellen. What this all means is sure to become apparent in due time.
