Even though Bian was defeated, the fighting did not end. Adler managed to escape and went into hiding with the remaining DC forces. The UCC submitted to the Federation, but the DC forces kept fighting. The Hiryu Kai returned to Izu for repairs while the Hagane began hunting DC remnants, heading to Africa. Latooni and Ryusei go on reconnaissance but don’t find any DC forces. Latooni is bothered by Bian’s comments about the Federation higher ups surrendering to the aliens, but Ryusei doesn’t think all the higher ups felt that way or else the SRX project wouldn’t exist. Ryusei adds that Latooni’s talking a lot more and that the outfit she wore earlier looked really good on her. She says she won’t wear it again since it was embarrassing. Ryusei thinks it’s a shame. Tetsuya orders them back and Daitetsu figures the DC are regrouping somewhere. Excellen visits Bullet in the infirmary and walks in on him being fed by Kusuha. Excellen asks if it’s any good but Bullet says it’s hospital food. Kusuha apologizes but Bullet quickly changes his opinion. He tries to pick up his fork, but Kusuha feeds him. She says he’ll soon be able to feed himself and get some fresh air and Bullet asks if she’ll go with him. She agrees and Excellen sees why Bullet wanted to be treated on the Hagane. Bullet denies it but Excellen says she’s the third wheel and leaves. Ryoto solves an engineering problem and Rob says he’ll let him help if he solves a few more. Rio arrives and tells Ryoto he’s supposed to have a PT sim match with her. She drags him off but he sees Ryusei and says he has to talk to him. Ryoto asks Ryusei about the T-Link System and says he thinks it has to do with human brainwaves. Ryusei says that’s not uncommon but Ryoto wonders why only their machines have it. Ryusei suggests the system is limited in quantity but Ryoto says the people capable of using it are limited. Ryusei says Ryoto is just over thinking. Daitetsu receives word that the R-Series machines are ready and to return to Izu. He adds that the ship’s crew can have some leave and Tetsuya says Daitetsu can visit his granddaughter. Rai watches a news report, but doesn’t hear any solid info about the Kurogane. The Hagane flies over the Mediterranean and receives an emergency call from the Dukedom of Riksent saying they’re under attack by DC forces.
Tenzan’s Barrelion shoots down Riksent Messer fighters while Tempest surrounds the castle. Hagane‘s PTs head to Riksent and Masaki wonders why the DC would attack it. Aya suggests they might be after the huge gold repository but Rai wonders why they just didn’t attack the repository. Butler Joyce L’Dhal finds Princess Shine Hausen and tells her to escape, but Shine says she won’t run since she’s the one they’re after. She says she’ll talk to them to buy her people time to seek shelter and assures Joyce that help is on the way. Tempest fires warning shots and Shine steps out. Tempest is disgusted he’s stooped to kidnapping and wonders why Adler wants her. Hagane‘s PTs arrive and Tempest grabs Shine. Tenzan greets Ryusei and tells him to disarm or else they’ll attack Riksent. Ingram orders everyone but Masaki to spread out. Tenzan warns Masaki, but Masaki tells him that they’re in range of his Cyflash. Tempest holds up Shine and says she’ll die if they try anything. Shine tries to tell them she’s their goal and Ingram reads her lips. The AMs retreat and Ingram orders the others to attack, assuring them the DC won’t harm the princess. Shine covers her ears as Excellen snipes a Lion. Masaki knocks Tenzan away and Kyosuke uses the Alteisen‘s heat horn to free Shine. She falls but Rai catches her. The Hagane lands in Riksent and Kusuha checks Shine for injuries. Shine thanks Rai for saving her and insists he show her around the ship. Rai tells her he still has work to do and that she can’t always get her way. He excuses himself and Shine asks for his name. Daitetsu asks Joyce why the DC wants Shine and he explains she has precognitive abilities. Ingram muses that it’d be good for a man-machine interface to predict attacks and that Adler was researching such a field. He adds that the DC will try and capture her again. Much to everyone’s surprise, Aya informs the pilots that they will take Shine with them to Izu. Shine asks where “Sir Raidiese” is and orders Ryusei to go find him. The others look on questionably.
After Bian’s defeat last episode, we get a small break. The DC’s still up and running thanks to Adler and it’s the Hagane‘s job to hunt them down. The DC is really desperate to attack Riksent, but thanks to that we’re introduced to 12-year-old precognitive princess Shine. She’s your typical princess but there’s just something else about her I can’t quite put my finger on. She’s quite cute and quickly becomes Rai’s number one fan girl. In other romantic developments, Ryusei and Latooni have a moment, Rio and Ryoto’s rivalry/love kicks off as well as Bullet’s rather pathetic attempts to hit on Kusuha. Luckily he has Excellen to give him… uh… “advice.” Overall, a humorous episode that’s a nice change of pace.
