The STTS-909 Rising Freedom Gundam was a transformable mobile suit used by the global peacekeeping agency Compass in C.E. 75. Its design was based on the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, combined with data from the transformation system of the Orb Union’s MVF-M11C Murasame. This transformation system allowed the Rising Freedom to perform unassisted atmospheric entry. The Rising Freedom shared the same frame and panoramic cockpit as its brother unit, the STTS-808 Immortal Justice Gundam. The Rising Freedom’s common frame allowed its equipment to be changed depending on the mission. Its armaments included a beam rifle, vulcan guns, beam sabers, railguns, hyper impulse guns, a beam shield and a shield boomerang. The Rising Freedom was assigned to Kira Yamato, the military commander of Compass and an ace pilot of the two prior wars. In C.E. 75, Compass participated in an operation with the Kingdom of Foundation to root out Blue Cosmos terrorists operating near the Eurasian Federation’s territory. However, the battle was part of an elaborate plot by Foundation, and its elite Black Knight Squad turned on Compass and destroyed the Rising Freedom. Kira continued the fight in the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, an upgraded version of his previous mobile suit.
