Summary

Loran uses the Minchi drill to dig out the spaceship more quickly. Dianna climbs an old tree and finds her name and Will’s carved in it. She has a flashback and remembers him holding her and carving their names into the tree. Teteth asks Dianna what she’s doing up there, and Dianna answers that she wanted to look at a bird’s nest. Loran, Sid and Will enter the spaceship and activate the computers on the bridge. Dianna searches Will’s old desk and finds a picture of them there. Loran and Will come back to the house singing and tell Teteth and Dianna that the spaceship has been discovered. Sid says they should call the Militia immediately, but Will tells him the nearest telephone is at a neighbor’s house 10km away. Loran wonders if the spaceship will expand the war, but Sid says they don’t have to think about that. Dianna looks at the Moon in the sky, and Loran asks her if she is all right. She tells him she is just looking at how beautiful the sky is. Elsewhere, Michael doesn’t like the idea of working under the dandy-like Mallygan, the commander of the Luziana Militia. Joseph says Luziana needs Inglessa’s mobile suits, and Mallygan laughs. A loud noise is heard, and Mallygan shows them their Suicide Squad of Borjarnon mobile suits they discovered on their own land. Squad commander Gavane Goonny introduces himself to Joseph and Sochie, and they are surprised he knew their names. Gavane says he knows Sochie is the brave female pilot of the Kapool. Dianna shows Will the old picture, and he explains he wants to go to the Moon to prove the legend about his grandfather. Miran tells Kihel they should declare a Moonrace nation in the Sunbelt zone, and Kihel wants to continue negotiations with Guin. Teteth tells Will that if he gives the ship to the Militia they will just use it for war and not go to the Moon. She convinces him to give the ship and his mobile suit to Dianna Counter so that they can take him to the Moon. Will isn’t sure about piloting the mobile suit and asks Teteth for her help.

In bed, Dianna thinks how she could take Will to the Moon, but that her real dream was to live with his grandfather. She gets out of bed, and she and Loran see Will getting ready to leave. He says he is going to join Dianna Counter so that he can go back to the Moon. Dianna doesn’t think that’s a good idea, and Will tells her not to interfere with his dream. Teteth shows up with Will’s excavated Cannon Illefuto mobile suit and picks him up. Before leaving he tells them they can dig out the ship if they want to. Elsewhere, Gavane tells Sochie not to run ahead of him because he doesn’t need her as a scout. She tells him he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and that he’s inexperienced. Loran follows Will in the Turn A, accompanied by Sid and Dianna in a car. Will and Teteth reach a valley that they can either jump over or spend a few days going around. Teteth spots the Turn A following them, and Will wonders why they came. Loran and Dianna tells Will it is a mistake to join Dianna Counter, and he threatens to shoot them with his laser cannon if they follow him. Teteth sees an explosion from the valley below which turns out to be a mobile suit battle. Harry, alone in his Sumo, has run into the Borjarnons and Kapools. The Borjarnons throw crackers at him, and he isn’t familiar with their fighting style. He smashes some Borjarnons, and Will jumps down to help him. Loran jumps down with the Turn A, and Dianna takes control of the car to drive down the valley. Loran tells Will that Dianna Counter wants to live on Earth and won’t go back to the Moon. Harry attacks with his heat fan and Loran fights him off with his beam saber. With his heat fan and beam gun, Harry is able to beat the Turn A down. The Turn A loses power, and Gavane gets out of his custom Borjarnon and shoots at Harry with a standard rifle. Harry thinks Gavane is crazy, and Dianna shows up to tell Will he’s stupid. Teteth threatens to shoot Dianna, and Sochie fires her hand cannons at the Cannon Illefuto. She hits the Sumo with a rifle, and Harry decides to retreat with Will. Loran asks Dianna if she is ok after her rough car ride down the mountain. She says she is all right and thinks to herself that Will should be OK with Harry.

Commentary

Well, quite a lot happens in this episode. First and foremost, we finally get to see the fan favorite Zaku II mobile suit, but here it’s called the Borjarnon. Whether it actually is a Zaku II or just looks like one is unknown. We’re also introduced to Gavane Goonny and his Suicide Squad. That’s definitely the right name, as someone would have to be suicidal to attack a mobile suit with a standard human-sized rifle. I mean really, what is it with these guys that pull such a stupid stunt? Will decides to throw his lot with Dianna Counter, and it looks pretty clear that Teteth is using him for her own advantage. The reason for that is a mystery, as is still her previous attempt to kill Dianna. Will seems like a nice guy trying to fulfill his dream of going to the Moon, but unfortunately he is quite susceptible to Teteth’s influence.
