∀ Gundam Ep. 46: To Earth Once Again

0
Summary

Loran escapes in the Core Fighter and flies back to Gaingnham. The Willghem is joined by the Aspite as it heads for Earth. Bruno and Jacop try to sneak off the ship, but Yanny catches on to what they are doing and forces them back to work. Guin and Gym watch as a Sumo‘s cockpit is fitted onto the Turn A so that they can use it. Gym says that whoever created the Turn A must have been like them because of the similarities in technology. Loran lands in front of the palace and nearly collapses. Dianna, Kihel, Sochie, Miashei, Sid and Lily come to hear what he has to report. Sochie is very angry that Guin has betrayed them and left them on the Moon. Dianna thinks that if he just wanted technology he could bribe Dianna Counter, and Lily thinks he wants more than to industrialize Earth. Dianna decides they have to go back to Earth, and Sid asks how they will do that without a ship. The Militia’s mobile suits are loaded onto trucks to head to Dianna’s private airport. Sochie asks Loran how he can be so happy when the Turn A was stolen by Guin. Fran pulls up alongside them in a TV truck and says there are more riots. She says that Dianna’s supporters were attacked by Gym’s troops at the airport. Hamett, Donna and Sent look at the damage around the airport. Harry arrives and saves Aims and John from an exploding ship. Dianna’s voice suddenly appears on the loudspeakers, and she asks the citizens to let her go back to Earth and end the war. She says that once she stops Gym everyone can go back to Earth. Harry sees that she is making the announcement from Loran’s Core Fighter. Harry tells some Sumo pilots to begin repairs on the ships immediately. Elsewhere, Gym’s troops hear that Dianna is trying to go to Earth. They prepare to send a squad of Zssan suits to attack Dianna’s forces and prevent them from going to Earth.

Aims and John pilot a Bellona to help repair an Almaiya class ship. Dianna asks Hamett to design a mark for the ship, so he has a big whale painted on the hull. Harry supervises as a new bridge module is loaded onto the ship. Loran uses Harry’s Sumo to move the Core Fighter for repair. Dianna tells two sisters to help Loran, and they ask him to autograph their shirts. Sochie watches him from her Borjarnon and asks him why he is fooling around while everyone else works. The sisters think Sochie is too sensitive, but Loran assures them she is a nice person. Elsewhere, the Zssan squad takes off to attack Dianna’s airport. Harry contacts Loran and asks him to discretely get to his Core Fighter. He explains that Gym’s troops are sending mobile suits to attack. Harry tells the sisters that Loran will be testing out the missiles they attached to his Core Fighter. Aims and John get into a Borjarnon and Kapool and head for an exit. Harry, Loran and another Sumo pilot leave, and Sochie wonders where they are going. Harry, Loran and the Sumo travel through the airlock and reach the Moon’s surface. The Zssans begin firing spreads of missiles, and Harry attacks one of the Zssans and destroys it. The other Sumo pilot is killed by a Zssan, and Harry destroys that one as well. He destroys a third Zssan and quickly flies off to the area where Loran is. He tells Loran to fire his missiles at the cockpit, and Loran thinks for a moment that someone is in there. He fires the missiles and destroys the Zssan while Harry destroys the two remaining ones. One of the Sumo pilots wonders what happened to the other Sumo, and John says the pilot is probably dead. Afterwards, Sochie is mad that they didn’t let her fight, but Kihel calms her down. With repairs completed, the Almaiya takes off from the Moon and heads for Earth to find Gym and Guin.

Commentary

With Guin’s betrayal, Loran and the others have to find a way to follow him back to Earth. Unfortunately, it seems like Gym planned for that and took steps to sabotage them. It’s pretty late in the series to see new suits, but we’re treated this time to the Zssan, which looks nearly identical to the Zssa used by the Neo Zeon in Gundam ZZ. Apparently, Gym’s forces excavated these suits as well, so they were probably in the same area as the Turn X and Bandit. Harry yet again proves how skilled a pilot he is by single-handedly destroying 5 Zssans. Loran destroys one too, and I think this is the first time he actually kills someone. Until now, I don’t think he ever has killed anyone, and that’s a big deal for someone like him. Now that everyone has a ship, it’s back to Earth to stop Guin and Gym from whatever they are planning.
