The VF-19EF/A Isamu Special was a custom variable fighter used by former U.N. Spacy pilot Isamu Alva Dyson. In 2040, Isamu served as a test pilot for the YF-19 in Project Super Nova that eventually went into production as the VF-19A Excalibur. After joining SMS, Isamu wanted to use a VF-19A as his personal unit, but one was not available. With help from Yang Neumann, Shinsei initiated a project to extend the VF-19’s service life by remodeling a VF-19EF Caliburn into the VF-19EF/A Isamu Special. The Isamu Special lacked features from newer fighters like EX-Gear controls, and it used modified VF-25 Messiah Super Parts to increase its thrust in space. In 2059, Isamu was part of an SMS reinforcement fleet sent to assist the Macross Quarter 25 in the final battle of the Vajra War.
