The VF-1S Strike Valkyrie was a configuration of the VF-1S that equipped the FAST Pack system for enhanced operation in space. The FAST Pack added a pair of booster thrusters and extra propellant/coolant tanks. The FAST Pack also boosted the VF-1S’ armaments with the addition of a beam cannon pod and multiple micro-missile pods. Because the FAST Pack was designed only for use in space, the pilot must purge the equipment before entering a planetary atmosphere. At the end of Space War I, the Macross smashed through the interior of the Zentradi Gol Boddole Zer mobile fortress and dispatched Hikaru Ichijyo in a Strike Valkyrie to reach the Zentradi leader. Hikaru unleashed an attack that killed Gol Boddole Zer, who was biologically connected to the fortress. As a result, the fortress was destroyed, putting an end to the battle between the Zentradi and Meltrandi.
