The VF-2SS Valkyrie II was one of the main variable fighters used by U.N. Spacy in the 2090s. Entering service in 2082, it was the successor to the older VF-XX Zentran Valkyrie. U.N. Spacy decided to optimize its variable fighters for use in different environments, with the VF-2SS deployed in space and the VF-2JA Icarus on Earth. The VF-2SS’ armaments included two anti-aircraft beam cannons. The VF-2SS lacked built-in missile launchers, but it could equip an optional Super Armed Pack to add that capability. The VF-2SS made its combat debut in 2082, fending off a Zentradi attack. A decade later, it served as the frontline variable fighter in the Mardook War of 2092. In addition to their combat role, several specially colored VF-2SS units were used in acrobatic demonstrations during the Moon Festival of 2092.
