The Working Space Boat was a spacecraft from the old Anno Domini era. Despite its age, its basic design was shared by later versions. At the dawn of the Universal Century era, a group of terrorists, including Syam Vist, used a Working Space Boat to escape from the Laplace Colony after they sabotaged it and caused its destruction. The Working Space Boat then exploded with the terrorists aboard to cover up their efforts, but Syam managed to survive. Floating alone in space after the explosion, he made a discovery that would change the fate of the new Universal Century.
