Technical and Historical Notes

Near the end of the Eve Wars of AC 195, the Romefeller Foundation created a new series of mobile suits as a last-ditch effort to fight off the Gundam pilots and White Fang. These mass production model Gundams were inspired by the five machines that had tormented OZ for the past year. In particular, the XXXG-01ST T’ien-Lung Gundam was based on the XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam, and was almost identical to Altron in terms of outward appearance. However, T’ien-Lung (meaning “heaven dragon” in Chinese) was designed as a space combat mobile suit. Most of its body was covered with solar panels and reflectors, allowing it to maintain a constant energy supply. Another notable feature was the inclusion of a Zero System, which allowed T’ien-Lung to coordinate mobile dolls more effectively, as demonstrated by White Fang’s Dorothy Catalonia during the war. Since it was intended to operate in concert with mobile dolls, T’ien-Lung’s weapons consisted of just a pair of vulcan guns in the head and a dragon fang on each arm. An unknown number of T’ien-Lung units were produced, but with the end of the war, none were deployed, remaining dormant in the plant that built them. In January AC 196, a group of civilians broke into the plant and stole several Gundams to look for a missing test pilot. One T’ien-Lung was stolen by Krung Ponlaamai, a friend of Tiel Noembreux’s and a fellow member of her choir group. Though Krung was the one to drive off Romefeller’s pursuit team, she had ulterior motives: she secretly supported Dekim Barton’s ideals, and planned to defect to the fledgling Mariemaia Army as soon as possible.
