By UC 0074, Zeon’s mobile suit development was in danger of cancelation due to the inability to miniaturize the fusion reactor of the MW-01 Mobile Worker Model 01 Late Type. Gihren Zabi was convinced to allow the project to continue when Dr. Torenov Y. Minovsky made a breakthrough and developed a new compact fusion reactor that later bore his name. The new reactor was utilized in the prototype YMS-03 Waff (named after “weaponry” or “armament” in German), which used a fluid pulse system that allowed high mobility in space. The Waff featured the same forearm attachment exchange function from the Model 01 Late Type. Its armaments included a prototype bazooka, heat hawk and shield. Several Waff units were produced, but Zeon’s focus switched to the combat-ready successor MS-04 Bugu and eventually the MS-05 Zaku I.
