Technical and Historical Notes

The YMS-09J Dom High Speed Test Type was an experimental mobile suit created by the Principality of Zeon to improve the mobility of the MS-09 Dom. To improve hovering performance, the Dom High Speed Test Type incorporated development data from the MS-07H Gouf Flight Test Type. It was equipped with a jet propulsion backpack that featured moveable stabilizers, and extra thrusters were built into the waist. The unit’s armaments included a diffuse beam cannon, a giant bazooka and a heat lancer. Two units were produced, with the first suffering severe damage during an experiment due to balance problems. The second unit incorporated an extended stabilizer and added air brakes to the legs to correct this problem. As a result, the test unit achieved a top speed 140 percent higher than the standard Dom, but it was unable to meet requirements for the time it took to accelerate to its top speed.
