During the One Year War, the Principality of Zeon initiated the top secret Pezun Project at the Pezun asteroid base to develop next generation mobile suits to succeed the MS-06 Zaku II series. One such design was the close combat MS-11 Act Zaku, which utilized a joint drive system similar to the mobile suits of the Earth Federation Forces. However, the Act Zaku was equipped with the same backpack as the MS-06 due to delays in the development of its new fusion reactor and thrusters. The Act Zaku could carry both a standard and large heat hawk, and its main weapon was a quadruple machine gun. Several units, possibly test types, were labeled YMS-11 and assigned to pilots under Kycilia Zabi. The standard MS-11 design emerged too late in the war to enter full mass production, but it was later manufactured by the EFF when they captured its plans at the end of the war.
