Owing to its large production run, ZAFT’s ZGMF-1017 GINN fell into the hands of many parties, including the pirate Hinstn. His unit was befitting that of a pirate, featuring a custom color scheme, a body covered with spikes and a blade-like crest in place of the standard head crest. Its armaments included a pair of leg-mounted missile launchers, a knife, ice pick, rod, a pair of rocket anchors and a standard machine gun. In early C.E. 71, Hinstn’s gang of pirates seized control of the Eurasian Federation space fortress Artemis, which received heavy damage from an earlier ZAFT attack. Serpent Tail mercenary Gai Murakumo was sent to negotiate the release of base commander Gerard Garcia and his men, but Hinstn forced a confrontation. Unfortunately for the pirate, his mobile suit was no match for Gai’s MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame and was quickly destroyed.
