Zone of the Enders: 2167 Idolo is a one-shot OVA released in Japan in 2001. Produced by Sunrise, it is the prequel to Konami’s PlayStation 2 game Zone of the Enders. The OVA’s creative staff includes director Tetsuya Watanabe, writer Shin Yoshida, mechanical designers Tsutomu Miyazawa and Tsutomu Suzuki, character designer Kumi Horri and composer Hikaru Nanase. The story is set in 2167 and chronicles the Deimos incident referred to in the game. The story focuses on Radium Lavans, a pilot for Mars’ BAHRAM military assigned to test the prototype orbital frame Idolo. Although the ending of the OVA leads directly into the game, its story is also continued in the TV series Zone of the Enders: Dolores, i. The OVA was released on home video in North America by ADV Films, but is now out of print.
