Fang of the Sun Dougram is a TV series that aired exclusively in Japan from 1981-1983. Directed by Ryosuke Takahashi and Takeyuki Kanda, it features mecha designs by Kunio Okawara, character designs by Norio Shioyama and Soji Yoshikawa, and music by Toru Fuyuki. Set in the future, the series focuses on Crinn Cashim, a young man who abandons his privileged life on Earth and joins the armed group Fang of the Sun to free the colony world Deloyer from the oppressive Earth Federation. Dougram is notable for building on the “real robot” style introduced in Sunrise’s 1979 series Mobile Suit Gundam. After completing its 75-episode run, the TV series was followed by the compilation movie Dougram: Documentary of the Fang of the Sun. Although the series has never been officially released in English, some of its combat armors were licensed for use in Revell’s Robotech Defender toy line, and later by FASA Corporation for their BattleTech RPG.
