Macross

Macross is a multimedia franchise that started in 1982 with the TV series Super Dimension Fortress Macross. The series became a hit for its combination of transforming mecha and idol music, spawning multiple anime sequels, manga, novels and video game projects across four decades. In 1985, the original Macross series aired in edited form in North America as part of Robotech. Subsequent Macross entries have continued to emphasize music and have explored different musical genres. The most recent anime entry is the second Macross Delta movie that was released in Japan in 2021. Macross series have also been featured in multiple Super Robot Wars games. After more than two decades of issues regarding international rights, Japanese company Big West announced in 2022 that multiple Macross titles will be receiving Blu-ray sets in North America.
