Macross Dynamite 7 is an OVA series released in Japan from 1997-1998. Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the franchise, it is a sequel to the 1994 TV series Macross 7. The creative staff from the TV series returns for this OVA, set in 2047. The story focuses again on Basara Nekki, who decides to wander through space after skipping out on Fire Bomber’s last concert. Basara ends up on the planet Zola, home to galactic whales under threat from both poachers and a vengeful hunter. As of 2025, the series is streaming in multiple countries on Disney +.
