Time of Eve is an ONA series released in Japan from 2008-2009. Written and directed by Yasuhiro Yoshiura, it features character designs by Ryusuke Chayama and a score by Tohru Okada. In near future Japan, development of androids has advanced to the point where they are completely indistinguishable from humans, save for a halo above their heads. When high school student Rikuo Sakisaka becomes suspicious of the movements of his android Sammy, he follows the trail to Time of Eve, a café where the distinction between humans and androids is erased. As Rikuo interacts with the cafe’s patrons, he wonders which are humans and which are androids, but he learns that there’s more to androids than he’s been lead to believe. The series first streamed on Yahoo! Japan, with an English subtitled simulcast on Crunchyroll. The six ONA episodes were edited together for a compilation movie released in 2010. The movie was released on home video in North America by Pied Piper. The ONA and movie versions were re-released on home video in 2024 by AnimEigo.
