
Overman King Gainer is a TV series that aired in Japan from 2002-2003. Directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, its staff includes writer Ichiro Okouchi, mechanical designers Akira Yasuda and Kimitoshi Yamane, character/mecha designer Kenichi Yoshida and composer Kouhei Tanaka. Set in a far future frozen over Earth, the story focuses on Gainer Sanga, a video game champion who ends up joining tha Yapan Exodus that is leaving Domepoli. Gainer pilots an Overman named King Gainer (after his gamertag) against the forces of the Siberian Railway and London IMA that are attempting to stop the Exodus. In 2005, the series was released on home video in North America by Bandai Entertainment, but is now out of print. Sentai Filmworks re-licensed the series in 2013 but has not re-released it yet.
