Macross Delta is a TV series that aired exclusively in Japan in 2016. It is the fourth Macross TV series and began with a special preview version of the first episode on New Year’s Eve 2015. Directed by Kenji Yasuda and Shoji Kawamori, the series features mechanical designs by Kawamori, Hidetaka Tenjin and Stanislas Brunet, character designs by Chisato Mita, Majiro and Masaru Shindo and a score composed by Saeko Suzuki, TOMISIRO and Mina Kubota. Set in 2067, the series takes place in the Brisingr Globular Cluster, which is dealing with aggression from the Kingdom of Windermere. The story focuses on Hayate Immelmann, a wanderer who joins up with the private military company Xaos and becomes part of Delta Flight, a squadron of pilots that protects the idol singer group Walkure. The series was followed by a pair of theatrical films that reinterpret the story and continue after the end of the TV series. In 2022, Big West announced that the series will be released on home video in North America by Nozomi Entertainment.
