Following the end of Space War I in 2010, U.N. Spacy’s destroids slowly gave way to multipurpose variable fighters. However, 50 years after the Mayan incident of 2008, the ADR-03-Mk.III Destroid Cheyenne was revived with a new design, the Destroid Cheyenne II. Compared to the original, the Cheyenne II was powered by a modern thermonuclear reaction engine. The Cheyenne II also implemented improved rocket motors and a magnetic attachment system that allowed high-speed movement on a carrier deck. The Cheyenne II retained the original’s role of an anti-aircraft defense unit, and its armaments included two 30mm Gatling guns, two charged particle beam cannons, an anti-personnel machine gun and two 4-tube missile launchers. It could optionally be armed with flamethrower units or ceremonial salute guns in place of the charged particle beam cannons. The Cheyenne II design also served as the basis of the Destroid Work, a non combat worker unit. During the Vajra War of 2059, the Cheyenne II was actively used in the Macross Frontier emigration fleet by both NUNS and the private military company SMS. As of 2067, the Cheyenne II was still in active service with NUNS forces in the Brisingr Globular Cluster.
