Dunbine Ep. 21: Fugitive Riml

0
Summary

At Laas Wau, Riml bribes a guard to help her escape on a Garau Wing. Louser heads to Riml’s room later, only to find her missing. She beats the guards for letting Riml escape and tells them to find her. At the Coast of Rian, Shou, Marvel and Nie talk. Riml heads towards the sea on her Garau Wing. Musiy arrives at Laas Wau with her father and brothers and tells Louser she’ll find Riml. Riml has trouble flying and crashes into the ground. She is attacked by a strange creature and is rescued by a group of Garou Ran. Their boss agrees to lead her through the valley to the sea when she offers them all the money she has with her. Nie’s about to head to Taatara Castle when Hon Wan arrives with news of Riml’s escape. Hon Wan is surprised she hasn’t arrived yet. Nie is angry about her escaping at this important time and still thinks he should head to see King Foizon. Shou volunteers to go get Riml instead. Marvel comes with him on the Bozune and they follow Hon Wan. Marvel thinks Shou’s grown up since returning from Upper Earth. Riml escapes from the group she’s with but they don’t want to let her go and catch up with her and tie her up. Musiy, flying through the air happens to see her and lands her Virunvee. She and her brothers have no problem getting rid of the Garou Rans.

Musiy jumps out of her Virunvee and unties Riml. Riml tells Musiy she doesn’t want to go back to Laas Wau but Musiy tells her she has to think of her family’s status, so they are going back anyway. She asks the boss of the Garou Ran if he would like to start assisting them. Suddenly the Dunbine and Bozune arrive. Musiy’s father takes ahold of Riml while she and her brothers Bibi and Ooru head out to fight. While battling Shou, Musiy understands why Shot wanted her to be a soldier. Riml escapes from Musiy’s father and Hon Wan comes to fight him. Musiy’s Virunvee destroys the Dunbine’s canopy then forces it to the ground. She tells the Garou Ran boss to take care of Shou, but the Dunbine is able to take off before he gets there. Musiy lifts the boss up and puts him in the Dunbine’s cockpit. He starts strangling Shou, but Shou is able to knock him out. The Dunbine pretends to fall and when Musiy comes in close he deals heavy damage to the Virunvee. It falls to the ground and ends up crushing her father. Riml is able to escape with Hon Wan. Musiy and her brothers realize that their father is dead and start crying. Shou, Marvel, and Hon Wan head back to the Coast of Rian with Riml where Keen and the others welcome them. She is disappointed that Nie isn’t there. Later that night Nie returns in the Fou. Riml hugs Nie when he comes out.

Commentary

With so much of Drake’s forces now at Drake Castle instead of Laas Wau, Riml is easily able to escape on her own. Ironic that after all the rescue attempts from Nie and Shou, she leaves quite easily without any of their help. Nie doesn’t appear to be really happy with her actions however. Riml’s old piano teacher Musiy heads out to take her back to Laas Wau, and like Kibitsu Kiss before her has to think of her family’s status instead of helping an old friend. This episode features one of the stupider deaths in the series as Musiy’s Virunvee lands on her father, killing him. It’ll be interesting to see how things go now that Riml has joined the Zelana‘s crew…
