GaoGaiGar Ep. 25: Voices of Ruin

0
Summary

Swan gives Mic a wind chime souvenir as she, Guy, Mikoto, Leo, Mamoru and his friends see him and Liger off. Liger says they got all the data they needed and must return to America while Mic tearfully waves goodbye to his friends. After the plane takes off, Sunou says that they’ll be late for school and Swan offers to drive them there in her van while the rest ride the Gun machines back to 3G. Elsewhere, passerby’s are annoyed by an ice-cream vendor who keeps yelling over a loudspeaker and overcharges for his product. He tries to tell them that he uses high quality ingredients but no one is buying it. Primada approaches him with a Zonder crystal. A train station conductor tries to tell the passengers over the loudspeaker not to rush into the cars but his pleas fall on deaf ears. Polonaise suddenly appears with a Zonder crystal. Swan and the kids are stuck in a traffic jam when Mamoru senses a Zonder. Something suddenly bursts out of the water and grabs the van, which turns out to be Mic riding his Baribarien. Liger discovers that Mic ran away again and tells 3G to find him because he can’t turn the plane back now, silently asking Leo to forgive him. Entouji asks Volfogg to find Mic and Volfogg says that he already did. Volfogg tries to restrain Mic but he flies away with Swan’s van. Guy goes to get Mic but Entouji and Mikoto say that a new Zonder has been sighted. HyoRyu and EnRyu evacuate the people running away from EI-23 as Mic approaches. Swan tells him to go back but he tells her they’ll escape if it gets dangerous. Mic lands on the roof of a skyscraper as GaiGar arrives on the scene. EnRyu notes that the Zonder hasn’t attacked yet just as Mikoto reports that another Zonder appeared. EI-24 bursts behind everyone and the two Zonders start emitting hypersonic waves that overload the energy conducting G-Liquid running through the 3G robots’ bodies. Leo tells them to get out of there but they can’t move.

Acting against orders, GoldyMarg and Big Volfogg head out to assist their comrades. They attack the Zonders relentlessly but the latter change into new forms and cripple both robots with hypersonic waves. Polonaise and Primada watch from afar and gloat at their imminent victory. Taiga says that they have no choice but to use Projectile X but Entouji reports that the Zonders are now targeting the Bay Tower. A hypersonic wave hits G-Island and severs their power connection. Mic gets riled up and charges the Zonders. He tries to perform System Change but nothing happens. The hypersonic waves send him spiraling back at the skyscraper rooftop, which he crashes into and knocks Swan and the kids off. Mic then suddenly transforms into the blue guitar robot from before and deposits everyone safely on the ground. He then flies onto Baribarien and plays Disc M, which disrupts the wave emitters on the Zonders. EI-24 fires missiles at Mic but he dodges them and plays Disc P to revitalize the Brave Robot Corps and power them up. EI-23 and EI-24 combine into one large Zonder. Mic tells the Brave Robot Corps that he’ll deal with the hypersonic waves while they mount an attack. 3G restores power to the main order room and Taiga approves Final Fusion. Big Volfogg removes the Zonder’s barrier with Melting Siren, allowing HyoRyu, EnRyu and GoldyMarg to fire at it. Guy then combines with GoldyMarg to perform Hammer Hell and Heaven, extracting both cores simultaneously with Mic’s help. Liger watches Mic through a camera installed on his Baribarien and wonders why the block was released again. He tells the scientist with him that they’ll retrieve the data. The scientist says that it’s dangerous but Liger assures him that it’ll be okay as long as they have Disc X.

Commentary

As goofy as Mic Sounders looks, he’s not quite as useless as his first impression implied. And based on Liger’s cryptic remarks he still has one more trick up his sleeve. I have to wonder though, given that only his humanoid form is what gets anything done, why give him the dinky little robot form in the first place? Meanwhile, GoldyMarg’s recklessness seems to have rubbed off on Volfogg, as he now ditches sneaking around and discretion in favor of charging headfirst into a battle with not one but two Zonders at once. Attacking with two Zonders didn’t work and now 3G gains a new member. Pasdar and his Machine Kings are down to their last Zonder crystal and the final confrontation between them and 3G is not far off.
