Ideon Ep. 30: Desperate Sniper

0
Summary

Buff Clan forces destroy the missile satellites surrounding the Earth. Rukuku plans to attack the Earth to lure out the Giant God and will use a freezer attack to capture it. Daram says he isn’t confident that they’ll win the battle, but does offer to head out and help. Rukuku provides him a broken Galbo Jick. The Solo Ship realizes that the Buff Clan is attacking the Earth. Moera wants to take this opportunity to escape, but the others want to help the Earth. Moera and Joliver are worried about the fact that they can’t control the Ideon‘s swords and gun. The decision is made to head down to Earth. Sheryl steals apples from the kitchen to bring to Gije. Lotta follows her. Gije thinks he’s pitiful since he has to rely on his enemy to see the Ide. Sheryl and Gije discuss the Ide and the fact that its power continues to increase. Gije thinks the Ideon Gun and Ideon Swords have appeared because the will of the crew to defend themselves has increased. They both feel that they should bring Lou aboard the Ideon to see what happens. Sheryl leaves and realizes that Lotta has been listening in on their conversation. Sheryl says letting Gije aboard will be a good thing if it helps them learn more about the Ide. Gije tells Lotta that his life is in her hands and that she should let him hide for the time being. Daram thinks that the Earth is the home planet of the Solo Ship crew due to all the forces there. The Buff Clan continues to attack the Earth’s bases. Sheryl gets Lou from Lotta promising that she’ll explain her reasoning later. Sheryl heads aboard the Ideo-Delta and puts spacesuits on her and Lou. The three Ideon units launch. Moera still is hesitant to help those on Earth after how they’ve been treated. The Ideon units dock and the Ideon Gun is sent out. The Solo Ship descends through the atmosphere.

Daram has his Galbo Jick chase after the Ideon. The Ideon’s power rises and it prepares to fire the Ideon gun. Sheryl asks whether it is safe to fire the Ideon Gun while on Earth. The Ideon fires its Gun at a lower power level, which still destroys numerous Buff Clan crafts and causes large damage to ground nearby. The Adigos continue to pursue the Ideon. Rukuku tells her forces to fall back and use a freezer attack on the Ideon. A number of Freezer Skatch mecha are launched and surround the Ideon, freezing it with their attack. Lou starts crying and passes out. The Ideon starts falling due to the attack, but it is still able to fire the Ideon Gun on its own. The Freezer Skatches are destroyed and the Ideon is freed from the Freezer attack. Rukuku decides to pull back her forces, the Daram still leads an attack on the Ideon. The Galbo Jick grabs ahold of the Ideon and the two crash into the ground. Cosmo calls out for the pilots to leave the mecha. Daram and his two co-pilots leave the Galbo Jick. Daram challenges Cosmo to a fight. Hearing the commotion of the battle, Gije sneaks outside with everyone else and watches from the Solo Ship deck as Cosmo and Daram fight with laser swords. One of Daram’s co-pilots yells out to Cosmo that Daram has a nuclear device in his spacesuit and they’ll all be killed. Daram charges Cosmo and is about to kill him when he is shot in the head. Gije is revealed to be the shooter. Everyone is shocked to see Gije, and Karala slaps him. Later aboard the Solo Ship bridge, Kasha says that Gije should be executed and that they shouldn’t forgive him. Gije pleads with the crew to let him live and witness the appearance of the Ide. Bes tells Gije that its hard to overcome their hatred of him. Gije says he’s sorry and starts crying.

Commentary

After three episodes on the Moon, the Solo Ship finally heads to the Earth. Despite the cruelty the Earth has already shown to them, the Solo Ship decides to help in the Earth’s time of need. The major development of this episode has to do with Gije, who has seemingly befriended Sheryl due to their interest in the Ide. He is revealed to everyone at the end of the episode when he gets his revenge on Daram. Daram’s death would be completely changed in the compilation movie since the entire sequence on Earth was cut out. Now that his presence is known, it will be interesting to see whether the Solo Ship crew will accept him or not. Overall an average episode that while not bad, is overshadowed by the three really good episodes that preceded it.
