L.Gaim Ep. 14: Lady Poseidal

0
Summary

At Little Saye, Stella makes a speech to the rebel forces, saying they no longer have to fear Poseidal after performing well earlier on. He throws gold coins to the crowd from his Autogyro and heads to his room, where Daba waits. Leccee listens in from outside. Daba says he wants to return to outer space and attack Poseidal, but Stella thinks he’s overestimating his abilities. Amu finds Leccee spying from outside and pulls her away from the door. Hearing that Daba’s in there with Stella, Amu runs to the door herself. They hide around the corner as Daba leaves. Chai talks to Nei and Gavlet about launching a joint attack on the rebel base, but Nei doesn’t want to participate. Chai is nervous because Poseidal herself is coming to Mizun. Gavlet agrees with Nei and Chai attacks him. Gavlet then leaves to meet back up with Nei’s unit. Daba, meanwhile, sneaks into the rebel spaceport, where he runs into Amu. Daba wants to destroy Poseidal himself and not get Amu involved. When she hears Leccee is going, however, she runs on the ship to join them. Kyao shows up on the ship and says he’ll be found out by Stella soon. One of the rebels notices them on the Quart, but it’s too late and they take off. Stella is confused since no shuttles are supposed to be heading out but quickly realizes it’s Daba. Leccee discusses plans for infiltrating the Ape with Daba. On the Ape the operators notice the rebel shuttle approaching. The captain doesn’t want to cause a fuss with Poseidal aboard and says to observe them for the time being and sends out Bal-Buds. The Bal-Buds approach the Quart, which starts flashing a distress signal. Daba and Lilith get into the L.Gaim. The Bal-Buds signal the rebel shuttle to stop, but it instead increases its speed. The Bal-Buds shoot at the ship, which dodges their shots. The L.Gaim attacks the Ape and destroys a Bal-Bud defending it. Nei heads out to space with Gavlet on a shuttle in order to counter Daba’s attack. Chai complains, noting that if they went with his original plan, this wouldn’t have happened.

The Ape‘s operators sense the enemy coming. The L.Gaim and other heavy metals approach the ship. Daba blasts an opening through the hull with his beam saber and enters the ship, noticing dozens of Space Graias in storage. Leccee’s Arorne, Kyao’s Space Lista and Amu’s Spirit enter the ship and are fired at by enemy soldiers. Daba knocks them out of the way where he can, trying to avoid unnecessary deaths. Daba is attacked by a Bal-Bud, which is soon taken out and he heads further through the ship with Leccee while Kyao and Amu defend them. They reach a dead end with their heavy metals and Leccee thinks they should head back, but Daba continues on with his Flicker. He suddenly finds himself in what appears to be outer space, with Poseidal in front of him. Daba wonders if he’s in a holoscope room and Poseidal confirms it. She says she wanted him to come here, which is the only reason he made it this far. Daba asks her why she took over Pentagona and killed his parents, and Poseidal answers that it’s the natural law of Pentagona. She says there was war long before she took over each of the various planets’ monarchies. They spoiled the system, so it’s her duty to take over. Listening in, Leccee, Kyao and Amu realize Daba is part of the Yaman Clan. Poseidal says it’s destiny for her to rule and the people of Pentagona will inherit a better tomorrow because she’s in charge. Daba destroys the hologram but realizes that Poseidal herself is talking to him. Kyao yells out to Daba to hurry up; they can’t hold off the enemy for much longer. Daba gets back into the L.Gaim and starts heading back. They escape through a hole in the ship and have difficulty finding their ship. They find just an escape capsule remaining. Daba wants to make sure they save everyone before they go. To make things worse, Nei and Gavlet arrive and attack. Daba blasts Gavlet’s Space Graia. Nei tells him a second force of rebels is arriving and they should head back to protect the Ape, which is their main priority. Amu and Leccee are happy Stella helped out. Daba is confused about Poseidal’s appearance since he always thought Poseidal was a man.

Commentary

After a short cameo in the previous episode, we have a proper introduction to Poseidal here. She’s rather spooky with the bizarre costume, make-up and the different colored eyes. Not to mention her haunting voice (Saeko Shimazu, who would later do Four Murasame in Zeta Gundam). Unfortunately for Daba all he saw was a hologram, not the real thing. Even more unfortunate for Daba and the others was the fact that their mothership was destroyed. They really lucked out by Stella sending more forces into space or they would have been stranded there, even if they had defeated Gavlet and Nei.
