L.Gaim Ep. 19: Go and Come

0
Summary

On the Slender Skala, Gavlet receives a message from Giwaza, telling him to test the Ashura Temple and send him the data. Gavlet is upset since they still have to fix the heavy metals they already have. Giwaza tells him to be more independent and not let Nei beat him to the rank of Head Hunter. Elsewhere in the asteroid belt around Gastogal, Kyao tries maneuvering the Gulgul and accidentally rams it into the Turner. Leccee is worried about transferring over, but Daba says the asteroid belt will protect them. The Turner latches onto the Gulgul with anchors. Meanwhile, a pair of pilots from the Poseidal military spot the ships. Lilith goes out to grab a misplaced energy pack and notices them coming. She points them out to Daba, in the L.Gaim. Kyao finds Leccee pushing things out of the Gulgul with the D.Sserd and notices the enemy coming. The Turner takes off and Amu tells Kyao to keep up with them. The engine of the Gulgul doesn’t work properly. The enemies split up and Daba fires at one of them, but misses. The other enemy pilot blows up one of the anchors attacked to the Gulgul. Daba tells Kyao to flee the ship, but Kyao still thinks they have salvageable material on it. Gavlet contacts one of the pilots, who confirms that he’s fighting Daba. Gavlet says to keep them there. Hashamoja departs the Turner on a Space Lista to help out. Leccee tears through the bridge of the Gulgul to save Kyao just as it blows up. Daba aims at the enemy, but Hashamoja gets in his way multiple times. Hashamoja damages one of the enemies, who flees. Daba and the others get on the deck of the Turner. Hashamoja greets them, but Daba punches him in the face for his earlier actions. Daba heads to the bridge and finds Amu giving out orders. Amu hugs him and Daba thanks her for rescuing them. Leccee arrives on the bridge looking upset. She gets mad at Amu for showing off in front of her. Leccee admits she tricked Amu earlier into staying behind and runs off from the bridge, crying. Some of the crewmen talk to her and she slaps them. Lilith follows Leccee, who says she’ll be alright. Gavlet makes a speech to his crew, telling them they must defeat Daba. The crew laughs at him, thinking he’s only trying to better himself, but Elaine says their standing and salary will increase if their boss attains the rank of Head Hunter. The heavy metals start heading out. Gavlet gets aboard the Ashura Temple and heads out as well.

Amu announces to the rest of the ship that the enemy is coming. Daba tells Kyao to head to the bridge and help out Amu. Leccee and Lilith, who are taking a shower, stop upon hearing the alarm. Kyao heads to the bridge only to find Amu held at gunpoint by the rest of the crew, led by Hashamoja. Hashamoja tells them he’s going to sell them to the Poseidal military. Leccee gets dressed and Lilith finds her hair too big to handle after using the hair dryer Leccee and Lilith arrive on the deck and Lilith’s hairstyle shocks Daba. Gavlet approaches the Turner and sees a surrender signal. He thinks it is a trap and fires upon the ship anyway, blowing up a nearby asteroid. Hashamoja is mad that they are firing upon them and Amu laughs at him. Hashamoja punches her and she lands near the communication circuits. She turns it on so Daba and Leccee can hear what’s going on. Gavlet loses track of the Turner and his underlings complain to him that he’s going too fast. Leccee arrives on the bridge and attacks the crew, but is eventually taken captive by them. Daba transports into the L.Gaim and Hashamoja arrives on the deck in order to head out on the Space Lista. Daba asks Hashamoja what’s going on, but he won’t admit to selling them out. He heads out, trying to impress everyone with his skills. Daba tells him not to get too carried away and fires at the enemy. Daba yells to the bridge to head off so the enemy won’t defeat them. With Hashamoja gone, the crew decides to release Amu and the others. Daba avoids the attacks of the Ashura Temple and attacks, but is unable to damage it. Amu tells Kyao that Amandara gave her the Turner. Leccee tells Amu to stabilize the ship so she can head out on the D.Sserd. The Slender Skala approaches and Hashamoja fires upon it. Gavlet is mad at his underlings always having to rely on him. He heads back to the Slender Skala and deflects and attack from the Lista. He grabs it, only to be attacked from behind by the L.Gaim. Daba tells Hashamoja to defend the Turner, but he won’t listen to him and tries attacking the Ashura Temple. Gavlet fires at him and damages the Space Lista, so Hashamoja finally decides to head back. Daba attacks Gavlet, who says the Ashura Temple is too powerful for him. He blows off one of the L.Gaim’s arms, but Daba manages to take him by surprise and damage the Ashura Temple. Leccee and Kyao arrive, so Gavlet retreats. They head back to the Turner. Amu looks for Hashamoja angrily on the deck. Along with Leccee she attacks him. Daba tells them to stop, since he felt bad and helped out in the battle. Hashamoja hugs Daba for saying that, making Amu and Leccee mad.

Commentary

After a few really good episodes in space, things take somewhat of a downturn here as Hashamoja reappears on the scene. He really annoyed me at the start of the series and now he’s back again as an ally… well, only for so long. In a move that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, he betrays our heroes by trying to sell them out to the military. Although Daba forgave him at the end of the episode, I still don’t trust the guy. Our heroes have transferred from their damaged Gulgul to the Turner, a new ship provided by Amandara. As a big Amu fan I’m glad to see she’s back for good after her short absence. The Poseidal military keeps putting out bigger and more powerful heavy metals, this time with the Ashura Temple. Although Daba was able to defeat it, he’s having a harder and harder time with the enemy. Looks like the L.Gaim may be starting to get outdated if the enemy continues to put out these more powerful heavy metals. Finally, what was up with Lilith’s odd hairstyle in this episode? The hair dryer made her hair several times larger than the rest of her body.
