L.Gaim Ep. 32: Flashing Nei

0
Summary

The rebels contact Amandara and thank him for his help, although the transmission doesn’t work that well. They are sent a number of coordinates. Semuj says they don’t have to involve Daba as he already has plenty to keep himself occupied. At that moment Daba, with Kyao and Amu, spies on one of the military’s bases, spotting a number of Graias. Daba gets into the L.Gaim Mk-II and Amu gets into the original L.Gaim. With a booster for support, they head toward the base. The military starts blasting them with their cannons, but Daba quickly wipes them out. While Daba attacks the base, Kyao gets into a Graia. Giwaza tells Anton he is assembling the Elite 13 and wonders why Wassan is having difficulty arriving. More of the rebels manage to get into stolen Graias at the base, which is overwhelmed by the rebels’ small forces. The rebels escape with their stolen heavy metals. The military’s space shuttles rendezvous in space. One of the operators on the Sarge Opus tells Anton that Wassan is coming from Mizun, but they haven’t heard anything from Lily yet. Giwaza tells Anton he can make him one of the Elite 13. Anton goes to see Nei, who asks how their efforts of assembling the Elite 13 are going. Like Giwaza, she is upset at Poseidal for promoting Olibee. Anton tells her the Whale has met up with the rebels. Even though she is still injured, Nei still wants to head out. Daba and the others return to the rebel base and overhear some men talking about Mizun. Realizing that they bribed some soldiers and Semuj was behind it, Daba gets angry and runs off looking for him. Unfortunately, his ship has already headed out. Daba goes to see Ikka to learn where Semuj headed. Pamela reports to Gavlet, who is working out on the Slender Skala. Pamela tells him Nei detected the rebels purchasing weapons. Gavlet contacts Elaine and says they’ll attack, not wanting Nei to get all the credit. Daba desires to head to space to catch up to Semuj, and blasts off in the Turner. In space, Semuj and other rebels head off to purchase more weapons. Suddenly the Turner arrives. Gavlet’s forces, led by Hashamoja, are approaching as well. Semuj heads into the Turner to see Daba. Daba demands to know how they got so many weapons and ships so easily. Semuj explains that Stella failed because they didn’t have enough ships, which is why he is purchasing them. Daba wonders if there are that many traitors in the military.

Semuj heads out to contact the ship sellers in order to purchase more ships, but Hashamoja’s forces arrive and attack. Heckler contacts Nei and tells her Gavlet’s forces have found the enemy. Nei is willing to accept their help this time. One of the ships, the Dipps, which is damaged from the battle crashes into the Turner. The rebels chase after the enemy, but Gavlet arrives with more forces. The captain of the Dipps tells Semuj he doesn’t want to be involved with them after what has happened. Daba tells Kyao to head back and protect the purchased ships while he fights Gavlet. Semuj damages Hashamoja’s Space Graia. Gavlet is upset since he can’t even beat a copy of the L.Gaim. Daba wonders why the purchased battleships aren’t protecting themselves, and Semuj explains it’s because nobody’s aboard them. Daba contacts the ship’s captain and asks him to let him board the ships since the enemy already thinks they belong to the rebels anyway. Semuj pleads with the captain to listen to him since they’ll be under military pursuit now as well. Amu and Daba have success against the enemy. The rebels start boarding one of the purchased ships. Gavlet grabs onto the L.Gaim with his Ashura Temple, but Daba is able to knock him away. Daba tells Semuj to have the rebels board the remaining ships. Nei arrives in her Auge and says she’ll attack the ships. She attacks the Dipps and then says she’ll protect them if they go to Gastogal. Nei promises she’ll let them join the military if they go there. While they escape, the rebels continue to board the remaining ships. Amu damages Hashamoja’s Space Graia even further. Gavlet continues to fight Daba but is blasted behind by the rebel ships. Gavlet blames Hashamoja for him not being able to win this time. The rest of the enemy retreats. Semuj reveals to Daba that the ships they acquired were free. He admits to Daba that he knows he is from Mizun and that they are receiving help from Amandara. Daba decides to return to Mizun and Semuj agrees to come with him.

Commentary

Daba gets quite upset in this episode at the rebels purchasing weapons and ships from the military and other factions, but I honestly don’t see what’s so wrong with it. If they did that on Mizun the rebellion may not have been wiped out. With their forces so small, what does Daba expect them to do? This episode is called “Flashing Nei,” but with Nei having such a small part in this episode I don’t exactly get why it’s called that. I was surprised she allowed those selling ships to the rebels to live; usually she’d blow up the ship without a second thought. It looks like Giwaza is intending on summoning all of the Elite 13 in an attempt to get even with Poseidal for promoting Olibee above him. Overall, this turned out being a pretty good episode, especially since the plot is starting to move forward again after so many episodes on Trydetol. Looks like we’ll be going back to Mizun soon. With the rebel’s forces larger this time, hopefully things will go better there.
