Genesis Climber Mospeada is an anime series that aired in Japan from 1983-1984. Directed by Katsuhisa Yamada, the series included mechanical designs by Shinji Aramaki, character designs by Yoshitaka Amano and music by Joe Hisaishi. Set in 2083, the series focuses on a future Earth occupied by the mysterious Inbit alien race. Two efforts by the Mars Base to recapture Earth have failed, but a young soldier named Stick Bernard assembles a ragtag group of fighters on a journey from South America to the Inbit’s North American headquarters at Reflex Point. In 1985, Harmony Gold combined Mospeada with the unrelated series Super Dimension Fortress Macross and Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross to create the edited adaptation Robotech. That same year, a music video OVA titled Love, Live, Alive was released in Japan, but it didn’t receive a U.S. release until 2013 as a Robotech title. ADV Films released the original uncut version of Mospeada on DVD in North America in 2003, but it is now out of print.
