Summary

Ayato watches over the comatose Quon and Sayoko tells him a kiss from prince charming might wake her up. In another country, a cameraman has a local drive him into a jungle. Sayoko says she’s tried of watching Quon and wonders if she might have been watching the show her and Makoto put on. Makoto says they should talk business and Sayoko wonders if it will really help Itsuki. They leave and Quon opens her eyes. Haruka arrives with flowers and sees Sayoko fixing her hair with Makoto walking away. Sayoko asks if she has an extra pair of stockings. Haruka asks how long it’s being going on and Sayoko says there are some things you don’t even want friends to know. Haruka runs into Ayato on the elevator and says it’s good his check up went ok. Ayato remembers grabbing the fake Haruka’s breast and stops the elevator. He apologizes and runs out. Haruka over hears Kim telling Souichi that a medical team from the Bahbem Foundation was coming to see Quon. Haruka wonders what they would want with her. The cameraman climbs a mountain and finds an excavation site at the top. He takes some photos but is shot by the local that dropped him off. Helena Bahbem reports of the intruder and Bahbem thinks it odd she’s reports such a trivial matter. She adds that there has been a change in Quon and her time of awakening could be soon. She says she dispatched a medical team and Bahbem holds a younger version of Helena in his lap. He pets her and says she’s a good girl. Ayato stares at a blank canvas when Johji pays a visit. Elvy and her team are on standby and Donny asks her if something’s wrong. She says their success rate has dropped and wonders if they’re just support crew. Ayato and Johji take a walk and Johji asks about the Mu government. He gives him a picture of the people who betrayed humanity, and Ayato recognizes Maya. The Bahbem people arrive, but Quon is missing. Quon wonders around and finds Reika. Quon sees various images and the RahXephon. Reika hugs her and says she has a voice that will call her own instrument.

Ayato finds Quon singing at the pier and he asks her what she’s doing there. She says she found that she is Ollin as well and continues singing. The dolem Falsetto is detected and Ayato tells Quon to go back before Haruka takes him to TERRA. Haruka tells him Quon’s disappeared and he looks at the pier to see her gone. Ayato boards the RahXephon and reminds himself it was just a picture before taking off. Souichi wonders why Falsetto is just floating there and Jin sees that it’s following the wind. Helena and Bahbem watch over a black egg and Helena says they’re calling to each other, but there’s nothing to worry about. Elvy’s team attacks, but have no effect. Falsetto opens up and drops a portion of itself, which Cathy narrowly avoids. Ayato arrives, but sees Quon singing in the cockpit. Ayato tries to reach her, but Falsetto starts swallowing the RahXephon. Quon floats up and says she wants to touch her egg. She says she can do it together with Ayato and the black egg appears. Bahbem says there are things she can’t do yet and black feathers rain down. Ayato grabs Quon and tells her to stop. Quon continues to reach out but a barrier prevents her from touching the egg. Helena says she hasn’t awakened yet and she shouldn’t tamper with it. Quon faints and Falsetto rejoins, but Ayato cuts out of the lower half and slashes at the main body. Falsetto is wounded, but it retreats. Ayato holds Quon in his arms and she wakes up.

Commentary

This episode was quite interesting. Seems Ayato is uncomfortable around Haruka thanks to his hallucination last episode. We are also introduced to Helena Bahbem. There seems to be two of her, an adult and a child. There’s apparently something wrong with Bahbem, as he apparently only sees the child Helena and what adult Helena says is heard through the child. Talk about senile. Quon acts stranger than usual in this episode and it appears she has her own RahXephon. Souichi said earlier that she was in the same situation as Ayato, but I guess he was more right then he thought. We’ll have to see what this black RahXephon does in the future.
