Rayearth Ep. 47: The True Pillar is: Hikaru or Eagle!?

0
Summary

Clef feels the crown changing shape and wonders if the Pillar will be Hikaru or Eagle. Hikaru enters the room with Eagle, much to Clef’s surprise. Umi notes how bad the tremors have gotten and Ferio worries more monsters will appear. Tarta and Aska offer to help so Umi and Fuu go to find Hikaru while the others protect the residential area. A wall crumbles and Umi is sucked outside but Ascot saves her. They wonder why the wall collapsed and Ferio says Cephiro’s destruction has finally reached the castle. Eagle tells Clef that if he’s the Pillar he’ll stay in Cephiro to stabilize it but asks that Autozam be allowed to analyze the system. Eagle says he has no time for tricks and Clef is able to tell that Eagle is sick. Eagle says he chooses how he’ll live and how he’ll die. Clef says the crown will completely change shape soon and asks Hikaru what she’ll do. She begins to answer, but Umi and Fuu enter. The residential area begins to fall apart and but the children remain strong and protect Primera and Mokona from falling debris. Presea stays with Alcyone and again asks where Debonair is. Alcyone maintains that she doesn’t want to live in a world without Zagato. Hikaru sees Eagle off and he assures her Lantis will be fine. He says that Lantis does love her and, unlike his brother, he will return to the one he loves. Eagle boards the FTO and takes off.

Eagle returns to the NSX to the relief of his comrades. Hikaru tells Umi and Fuu that either her or Eagle will be the next Pillar. Umi says she didn’t feel qualified to say anything about the Pillar system since she’s an outsider, but if Hikaru is the next Pillar then they’re also responsible. Umi and Fuu don’t want Hikaru to become a sacrifice like Emeraude and Hikaru agrees. Before she can say what she intends to do, the Rune-Gods draw their attention to a huge portal outside. Regalia exits and the girls summon their Rune-Gods. Hikaru asks where Lantis is but Nova says he is hers and starts attacking. Geo asks Eagle why he didn’t contact them and Eagle says he forgot his communicator. He says he’s made a truce with Cephiro when Zazu informs them of the current battle. Nova knocks Hikaru away but Umi and Fuu manage to deal some damage with their new spells. Nova says she wants to kill everyone for Hikaru’s sake since Hikaru was wondering if people can only be with their loved ones in death like Emeraude and Zagato. Hikaru explains to the others what Nova is and Nova attacks them with Lantis’s magic. Nova reveals Lantis is in Regalia’s chest, and Eagle decides to head out upon learning that. Geo tries to stop him when he has another coughing fit and Eagle figures his time is up. He says that Clef agreed to help Autozam whether Eagle was the Pillar or not. Eagle wishes to die a warrior’s death and puts Geo in command. He tells Geo to use the ship to defend Cephiro and apologizes for being so selfish. Eagle launches and protects the Knights from one of Nova’s attacks.

Commentary

The tension continues to rise as Cephiro nears its destruction and it’s actually Eagle who steps up in a big way. His time is limited as well but he’s still willing to help out for the sake of both Cephiro and Autozam. Truly a worthy Pillar candidate but it looks like he’s planning to die in battle before his illness gets him. Hikaru has something in mind should she become the Pillar, but she keeps getting interrupted before she can say what it is. Nova uses Lantis as a shield and a power source, putting the Knights in quite the bind. Here’s hoping Eagle’s presence helps turn the tables.
