The SDR-04-Mk.XII Destroid Phalanx was a space defense robot developed aboard the Macross during its long journey back to Earth. Part of the Phalanx’s body was constructed from spare parts for the MBR-04-Mk.VI Destroid Tomahawk. The Phalanx’s main armament was its pair of Howard missile pods, which could each house 22 missiles. Variant units featured a different head design could also mount an optional Gatling gun. Despite its improvised design and construction, the Phalanx was deployed across Earth following Space War I.
