SRW OG: The Inspector Stage 13: Exiles from Paradise

Summary

Kyosuke chases after Axel and recognizes his voice as the one from the Soulgain. Axel introduces himself and says he knows Kyosuke well. Axel launches his sword breakers and Kyosuke shoots them down with his claymores. Axel charges in and grabs both of the Alteisen’s arms so it can’t attack. Kyosuke realizes Axel knows how to fight the Alteisen, and Axel notes that Kyosuke doesn’t have the power he had on the other side. Lemon tells Axel to retreat or else he’ll get caught up in the attack from their ship. Axel leaves and a barrage of missiles prevent Kyosuke from chasing. On the Trilobite class ship Ganland, Lamia wakes up and is greeted by Lemon. Lemon explains that she recovered and fixed Lamia’s language module. Lamia asks why she was saved, and Lemon says she wanted to know why she turned on them. Lamia says she understood that there’s no place for them in the world. Lemon says Lamia is like a human now and is becoming what Lemon desires. Lemon tells Lamia to decide for herself what she’ll do next and Lamia says she’ll leave. On the battleship Kurogane, Gilliam tells Ratsel about how Graien has taken over the government with the help of a war merchant and the Shadow Mirror. He adds that he must stop the Shadow Mirror to rectify the problems he caused. Gilliam says he’ll head out in the Gespenst Type RV and Ratsel says that he and Sanger Zonvolt will go with him. In the Ganland’s hangar, Lemon asks Lamia what Excellen is like and Lamia replies that Excellen reminds her of Lemon. Lamia finds her speech is still funny, and Lemon explains that completely repairing it would mean destroying part of her memory. The thought of Lamia losing something that made up part of her current self stopped Lemon from doing it. Lamia thanks Lemon before launching in the Vaisaga. Axel immediately attacks her and Lamia tells him she’s off to fight her own battle by her own will. Axel says she’s broken even more, but Lamia replies that she is herself. Axel engages Lamia one on one when Gilliam and Ratsel arrive. They take down some mass produced Ashsaviours before Gilliam contacts Vindel. Vindel identifies Gilliam as Helios Olympus and thanks him for System XN. Gilliam says the system and them should not exist and refuses to join Shadow Mirror. Vindel orders a group of R-Eins to capture Gilliam, but Sanger in his Grungust Type 3 rise from the ocean and destroys them. Lamia introduces herself to Gilliam and Ratsel, the latter questioning why she would help them. Lamia says she fights Shadow Mirror, and the others have no objections. Axel clashes with her, saying that her weakness unbalances the world. Lamia says she’s learned how her will can affect the world and Axel asks her if she wants to bring peace to the world. Vindel says peace creates nothing, rots the world, makes people forget conflict and abandon soldiers. Lamia says that’s just from the perspective of those who fight and to those who don’t want to fight, that world is wrong. Lemon reminds her that Adam and Eve were banished from paradise for eating the fruit of knowledge, but Lamia says she’ll find a new paradise.

The Hagane approaches the battlefield while Gilliam asks if the Shadow Mirrors know the result of their actions. He says that it’s a miracle the world keeps its balance despite their presence but it could be destroyed at any time. Axel asks why they still exist and Gilliam supposes this world is a test tube in some laboratory that will disappear when the experiment is over. Axel says he’s just fighting for the world he believes in and launches his sword breakers which are shot down by Sanger. Sanger says they fight to maintain the world and Axel says only victory can decide who is good or evil. Before Sanger can face Axel, he is challenged by the Thrudgelmir. Their zankantou clash and Sanger notes their similar stances. The Hagane’s forces arrive and Excellen notes that Sanger wasn’t the Thrudgelmir’s pilot after all. Everyone is surprised to see Lamia is alive, but Ratsel tells them she’s their ally now. Vindel decides to have the ship jump away, saying they can’t let anything happen to System XN. The Zweizergain activates and Axel and Wodan retreat. Gilliam tries to shoot down the ship, but it jumps away before the attack hits. Later on the Hagane, Lamia says she will tell the others everything she knows. Daitetsu asks what Shadow Mirror is, and Lamia explains it’s a Federation special squad from a different world, which Gilliam elaborates is a parallel world. Lamia notes there are several differences between the worlds, such as Elzam dying during the Elpis Incident, the Federation mass producing the R-Eins, and the Inspectors attacking after the DC war instead of the Aerogators. She adds the Aerogators never appeared and she only learned about them from the Shirogane’s database. Kyosuke asks why the Shadow Mirror came to their world, and Lamia explains that Vindel hated the peaceful world that came after the war with the aliens. The world had begun to rot, but that wouldn’t happen if there was constant conflict. Kyosuke asks why they’re trying to do that in this world, and Lamia says it’s because of Kyosuke. Lamia explains that Shadow Mirror was defeated by the special suppression team the Beowulves led by the other world’s Kyosuke. Lamia goes on to say that Axel is concerned with the mysterious power Beowulf had and how he began attacking enemies and allies alike. This forced the Shadow Mirror to jump to another world. Katina asks how they did that and Gilliam says he’ll explain since he came over from that side too.

Commentary

Surprising no one, Lamia survives and is recovered by Lemon. The Angelg is toast though, thank God. Now we don’t have to look at that eye sore anymore. Instead Lamia gets upgraded to one of the game’s secret units, the Vaisaga, a giant robot ninja with a badass cape. I love the Vaisaga and have been hoping since the start that she’d switch to it. I am very pleased by this turn of events and we get to see Lemon’s nice side in the process. Rather than punishing the traitor or reprogramming her, Lemon is interested by how Lamia has changed and wants to see her creation go further. Gilliam also upgrades his old Gespenst and he is revealed to be the Helios Olympus Vindel has been searching for. Gilliam’s speech about being in a test tube world is something he’s been saying since his debut game where he hung out with mobile suits, Ultramen, and Kamen Riders. Obviously it’s the evil hand of Banpresto at work! Sanger finally makes his debut, though I have to admit I find him to be a rather flat and boring character. The rest of the episode has Lamia play Ms Exposition as she tells us all about the Shadow Mirror’s home dimension. This shall continue into the next episode.
