Summary

On the Kurogane, everyone sits down to a feast. Kusuha serves Lamia a drink and assures her it’s just normal juice. Latooni gives Ryusei some sandwiches she made and Mai wonders why her chest feels tight. Arado makes a crack about Seolla’s legs and she axe kicks him, showing Russel her teddy bear panties. Katina teases him about it and Viletta notes how happy they all are despite going into battle. Gilliam says they have resolve, determination, fighting spirit as well as something more. Excellen thinks it’s nice and the alarm goes off. She adds that they have to make sure that they all come back. The Inspectors fight off the Einst and Vigagi orders Aguija to fire the Diaus. She asks if it’s okay without Wendolo’s permission but Vigagi says he’ll take responsibility. The Diaus fires beams that use reflectors that redirect the shots. Lemon wonders why they didn’t make use of the ship before and they’re informed of the arrival of the Kurogane and Hiryu Kai. Lefina says they’ll attack and destroy as much of the Inspectors’ fire power as possible. Excellen prepares to launch in the Rein Weissritter and assures Marion that it will help them fight the Einst. She launches and Lamia wonders if it’s really okay. Kusuha says that Ryukooh doesn’t see it as an enemy anymore. Mai says she’s fine despite being faced with Neviim and Ryusei tells her that they’re with her now. Vigagi tells Aguija to fire the Diaus’s main cannon but she says that definitely needs Wendolo’s permission. Vigagi reminds her that one of their goals is to absorb Earth weapons but it will be pointless if they take more damage. Mekibos agrees and says he’ll talk to Wendolo. Sikalog goes out to buy time and Aguija prepares the main cannon. Echidna tells Lemon about a faint energy signature surrounding Neviim and Vindel wonders if it’s the Einst. Axel heads out saying he’ll guard the retreat in the worst case. Lemon asks if he intends to finish things with Kyosuke and Axel says it must be fate. Lemon says Axel intends to fight forever and Vindel says that’s why they can trust him. Lemon asks Echidna to protect Axel and to come back alive. Echidna asks what the priority of those orders is and Lemon says both are the same.

Ratsel and Sanger battle Vigagi, but Vigagi’s Mega Galgau holds them off. Mekibos fights Arado, Seolla, Rio, and Ryoto, the latter of which destroy one of Graterkin’s weapons. Mekibos praises the Exbein for being well made despite lacking the Black Hole Engine, explaining that the engine was made based on the Inspectors’ technology. Irm asks if they’ve come to reap the seeds they sowed, and Mekibos says Earthlings are good at making dangerous weapons. Irm pushes Mekibos back with his sword and boost knuckles before hitting him with a Final Beam. Mekibos retreats, saying that there’s no balance between humans’ desire for battle and their military technology. Aguija says they’ll be destroyed to set an example and the Diaus fires. Shine predicts the path of the beam and she and Gilliam destroy a reflector. The beam misses the Kurogane and the Diaus fires again. Aya and Rai shoot down another reflector but the Diaus keeps firing. Shine says she can’t predict them all and the Kurogane is hit. Masaki says he’ll take out the reflectors with a Cyflash, but Kai tells him to attack the Diaus instead. Sikalog attacks Lamia, but Bullet protects her. Excellen fires and damages the Drukin, allowing Kyosuke to fly in and finish Sikalog off with a revolving bunker. Ibis and Lune attack Aguija who is angered by Sikalog’s death. Cybuster engages her and cuts up the Silverwind, but Aguija still charges at Masaki. He counters and kills her with an Akashic Buster. Vigagi falls back to the Diaus and has it fire again. The Diaus is destroyed by a Black Hole Cluster and Shu appears. He asks Vigagi how he likes the Granzon, which was made using technology the Inspectors supplied. Shu fires another Black Hole Cluster at Vigagi, severely damaging the Mega Galgau. Vigagi says it shouldn’t be that strong, but Shu says he improved it. The Mega Galgau explodes and Shu tells Masaki he’ll assist them. Echidna meets up with Axel and tells her what Lemon ordered her to do. Axel adds another order to defeat Lamia. Kyosuke arrives and Axel says he won’t let him interfere with their goal of making a squad capable of teleporting and spreading war. Axel and Kyosuke grapple, Axel saying that Kyosuke might change like Beowulf did so he’ll defeat him. Kyosuke kicks him back and damages the Soulgain with his claymores. Lamia goes for the kill on Axel, but Echidna takes the blow. Axel asks why she did that despite orders and Echidna says it’s because Lemon would be sad. She asks him to survive for Lemon’s sake before the Angelg explodes. Axel notes how Echidna defied orders by her own will and Lamia wonders if she had any regrets.

Commentary

Now this is more like it! Unlike last episode, this one looks great and has some awesome scenes. It’s time for the final battle, but before that we get to relax with some silly antics. One of the greatest things about this cast of characters is that even with the weight of the world on their shoulders, they have no problem kicking back and having fun. Since we’re nearing the end, it’s time for boss characters to start dying en masse. Sikalog, Aguija, Vigagi and Echidna all bite it with varying degrees of effectiveness. Sikalog never really did much and he never talked at all, so there wasn’t much to him. It was cool to see the Alteisen Riese get revenge for Hawaii, though. I was really impressed with the way Aguija went out, fighting on despite damage to her machine. I actually felt for her. Vigagi’s death came about in an unexpected fashion, and I loved every second of it! Watching the Granzon do what it does best is always a treat. Shu’s going to be helping out for the rest of this battle and I couldn’t be happier. Last of the deaths was Echidna, but it was kind of hard to care about her since she didn’t do much the few times she appeared. She did manage to show she’s not just a puppet in the end, so I’ll give her props for that.
