SRW OG: Divine Wars Stage 22: The Muzzle of Betrayal

0
Summary

Ingram launches in the R-Gun. The R-1 fires at a Zechariah, but it keeps charging. It knocks Ryusei back, but Aya arrives in the R-3 Powered and shoots the Zechariah’s head off. The Zechariah is still operational and Ryusei finally destroys it with his G-Revolver. Giado, Garnet, Latooni and Ryoto are also unable to destroy some Zechariahs, but Kusuha arrives in the Grungust Type 2 and destroys them. The others are surprised to see her. Bullet tells her it’s too soon for her to pilot, but she says the situation wouldn’t allow otherwise. Ingram joins the rest of the SRX team and Ryusei asks why Ingram sent Kusuha out. Ingram says there’s no point in keeping units in reserve and tells them to go engage the enemy. Masaki and Lune say it will take time for them to charge their attacks and the Hagane takes some damage. They fire their Impact cannons at the Huleh, but the Huleh puts up a barrier. Daitetsu orders the Tronium Buster Cannon to be readied, but the Huleh fires its Legion Eraser. The Hagane barely dodges and the Huleh continues to lay waste to Peking. More Aerogator reinforcements arrive and Ingram orders the SRX team to perform pattern OOC. The others think it’s too risky, but Ingram says there’s no other option. He adds that if they don’t, more people will lose their lives. Ryusei understands and they begin combining. Aya can’t handle the strain of maintaining the TK field, and the combination fails. Ryusei and Rai land safely, but Aya crashes. Ingram approaches her and says that’s as far as she can go. He says he’ll kill her painlessly and shoots the R-3.

Ryusei asks Ingram why he shot Aya, and Ingram answers that she was faulty. Kyosuke says that Ingram has betrayed them to the Aerogators, but Ingram says that he was an Aerogator from the beginning. No one can believe it and Ingram says he considers earthlings to be nothing more than samples. Ingram tells Ryusei to hate him so his powers will awaken. Zechariahs attack, but Ryusei and Rai go after Ingram. Ingram tells Rai that the SRX needs three psychodrivers, so Rai has no use. Rai says he’ll defeat Ingram with the R-2 regardless and attacks. Ingram returns fire and Ryusei tries to hit him with a T-Link Knuckle, but Ingram fires and knocks him back. Viletta Vadim arrives in her Ezekiel and tells Ingram she’s there to pick him up and that she’s retrieved the samples. Ingram tells Ryusei that he’ll test their potential as an enemy and that he looks forward to seeing humanity struggle. All the Aerogator forces withdraw and the Huleh warps away. Bullet asks Ryusei if he’s ok, but Rio informs them that Kusuha has gone missing. Ryusei gets out of the R-1 and curses. Kusuha and her Grungust are held on Neviim. Ingram meets with Levi, who addresses him as Aleph Barshem. Ingram tells her the earthlings will attack Neviim soon and Levi says everything is going according to plan. Norman and Gilliam arrive at Izu and Norman tells Laker to detain and question all SRX Project personnel. He adds that the R-Series will be sealed. Laker says Operation SRW will be weakened, but Norman says they can’t use units designed by Ingram. Kurt, Rob and Kenzo are detained while Gilliam goes through Ingram’s files. An injured Aya is wheeled off the Hagane while Ryusei and Rai are taken into custody.

Commentary

A desperate situation in Peking forces the SRX team to try and combine prematurely, and it ends in disaster. This leads to one of the most infamous events of any SRW timeline: Ingram’s betrayal. He reveals that he’s actually an Aerogator, but that shouldn’t come as a surprise considering episode 1’s prologue. Ingram shows just how good a pilot he is by easily taking down both Ryusei and Rai. We also get to meet Viletta, who was just a partial face on a screen in an earlier episode. Thanks to Ingram’s betrayal, the SRX team is placed under suspicion and are arrested. This is really bad timing since Operation SRW is right around the corner. On top of all that, Kusuha gets kidnapped as well. Things sure look bleak for the human race.
