SRW OG: Divine Wars Stage 23: The Day of Parting

0
Summary

Aerogator forces lay siege to cities all over the world. Norman comments that the Aerogators have yet to attack any major military bases, and Laker wonders if they’re luring them. Norman says he’s going to space to lead Operation SRW and that the R-Series will be dismantled. Bullet laments about leaving Kusuha’s side, but Tasuku assures everyone that Ingram probably took her to Neviim. Ryoto agrees, saying they didn’t find any remains of the Grungust Type 2. Tasuku says they have a chance to save her in the next mission. Leona joins them and says that they have to make up for the SRX team’s absence in Operation SRW. Bullet understands, but adds that if they find Kusuha, they’ll save her. From outside the door, Excellen tells Kyosuke that they don’t need to step in. Kyosuke says the only problem is the SRX team. Giado, Garnet and Latooni try to visit the SRX team, but Kai says they can’t. Irm, Masaki and Lune discuss Ingram’s motives. Lune says that she’s worried about Aya the most. Aya wakes up and recalls Ingram shooting her. Gilliam and Radha look over Ingram’s files. Gilliam pulls up the data on Aya’s younger sister, Mai, but reveals that according to her date of birth, Mai is actually older than Aya. He also reveals that Mai didn’t die in an accident, but was cryogenically frozen and shipped off somewhere. Radha wonders which is the truth, Aya’s memories or Ingram’s data. Gilliam apologizes to Radha, saying he’ll leave the task of telling the others to her. On Neviim, Ingram suddenly remembers the battle between the Astranagant and the Dis Astranagant. He hears Cobray Gordon telling him to release his bonds and be free. Atad asks him what’s wrong, but Ingram tells her not to call him Aleph. Atad says he’s just a puppet and different from a pure blooded Balmarian like herself. She adds that Levi is calling for him. Levi tells Ingram to make sure Judecca is ready, but adds that they probably won’t need it or Septuagint to deal with the Earthlings. Ingram looks at a stone relief of a mask and gets a headache. Viletta reminds him about the mission he gave her and that, as a blood relative, she’ll make sure to complete it. At Izu, everyone other than the SRX team board their respective battleships. Radha watches the ships leave as she welcomes Yukiko to the base.

Yukiko meets with Ryusei to tell him about the powers he has. She explains how she was a subject in the development of the T-Link System under Kenzo. She says how Kenzo discovered a special type of brainwave and created a system to amplify them. She says it’s the power of thought that they called psychodrive. Yukiko says she was one of the few that could use her thoughts to drive things, but that she has since lost that power. She thinks Ryusei probably inherited her powers. She apologizes for hiding it from him, but he says it’s not her fault. He understands that she just didn’t want him to worry. He says that he is fighting by his own will and that the reason he can fight is because he has psychodrive powers. Ryusei says there’s still something he has to do. Humanity’s forces gather in space, including former members of the UCC. Katina finds it funny that the Lion series is actually the core of their forces. She also notes how Bullet is getting the new unit from the Tesla Institute. Excellen asks if she’s jealous, but Katina says she’ll let the kid have it this time. Bullet wonders if it’s alright for him to pilot the Grungust Type 1, unit 2, but Irm assures him that the T-Link system is adjusted for his use. Sean tells Lefina that worrying is bad for her skin, but she assures him that she’s using three times the skin products. Daitetsu offers Tetsuya a drink and says that it might be his turn to die soon, but he doesn’t want the others to follow him. Tetsuya says that Daitetsu will go back with them, and adds that he’ll have the drink after the operation. Laker orders all SRX personnel to be released and the R-Series readied for battle. Rob and Kurt get to work on the repairs while Radha informs Aya that Mai is alive. Aya says she has to go to Neviim with Ryusei and Rai. The SRX team gathers and Aya apologizes that her uncertainty lead to the failure of Pattern OOC. She says the three of them will do it together next time. The R-Series is loaded onto a shuttle and Shine contacts them, telling Rai that she’ll be waiting for him. The shuttle takes off. In space, Operation SRW commences. The Hagane and Hiryu Kai’s mechs are faced by enemies being lead by the Grungust Type 2, and Bullet wonders if Kusuha escaped. Kusuha fires on them, saying that they’re her enemies.

Commentary

The Earth forces ready themselves for Operation SRW, but given the circumstances they don’t stand much of a chance. The R-Series is locked up as well as the pilots. Yukiko tells Ryusei the truth about the T-Link system. As mentioned earlier, psychodrivers are very similar to Gundam’s NewTypes, using their brainwaves to control machinery. Ryusei, Rai, and Aya have time to organize their thoughts and strengthen their resolve to go fight, despite Ingram’s betrayal. Speaking of, all’s not well with Ingram. He has odd headaches and is being contacted by Cobray Gordon, who is one of the selectable protagonists from SRW Alpha 3. While Viletta shows genuine concern about Ingram, Atad says he’s just a puppet. Levi mentions Judecca and Septuagint, but what those are will have to wait for later. On another note, Levi bears an uncanny resemblance to Mai, Aya’s previously thought deceased sister. Everyone prepares themselves for the coming battle and Bullet finally upgrades from his Gespenst. He’s determined to save Kusuha, but she’s been brainwashed by the enemy. It’s time for the final battle to begin.
